It was an absolute dream collaborating with Burro'd Theatre to bring A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Camphill. A huge thank you to Iain Moggach for his incredible vision and direction, to the talented cast and crew who brought the production to life, to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for generously funding this project, and to everyone who supported us along the way.
We’re so grateful for this creative partnership and look forward to many more collaborations to come!
A Midsummer Night's Dream was a true group project!
On top of the cast and crew you've seen on the front end of things here, there were also bundles of kind & talented humans lending us their time, skills, and resources behind the scenes.
As we close up the books on this Dream, we wanted to send warm fuzzies to some of the awesome people who sprinkled their pixie dust on our show!
First, we would like to again thank Camphill Communities Ontario for hosting our production on their truly magical grounds, with special shout-outs to Kathrine Killam & Diane Kyd for their work and enthusiasm about this partnership. This production would not have happened without Camphill and the Ontario Trillium Foundation's support.
We also need to give BIG props to our lead designer Brenda Thompson - who created the world we got to spend three weeks playing in from set design to costumes to props! She also had some wonderful helping hands in the lovely Sandi LaPlante & our SM Lesley Coo.
Then we have Stephen Dobby, our Swing! Stephen took it upon himself to work closely with Kristen Keller, and after just TWO full rehearsals (!!!), he stepped into Puck's shoes for our Aug 29th shows and absolutely *crushed it*. Getting to watch Kristen and Stephen collaborate & build their own separate but connected "Pucks" together was a real treat!
It also turns out that building an outdoor stage from scratch is a HUGE endeavour. 😅 Our cast had such safe and sturdy boards to tread thanks to set liaison Gord Hebert, build leads Christina Wood-Horton & Chris Horton, and our set build crew Jane Bard & Brooklyn Chenard. And then Christina, Chris, and Jim Jenkinson returned and were instrumental in striking it all this past Monday!
Finally, our theatre community really all pitched in to help us build our Fairyland. The South Simcoe Theatre and Kempenfelt Community Players lent us risers that formed our stage, as well as other set dressings and costumes, Theatre Georgian Bay's white tents gave our cast areas for those speedy quick changes, and Theatre on the Ridge's chairs let us seat almost 60 people at a time in our enchanted grove.
Unlike most of the group projects we had to do in school, A Midsummer Night's Dream was a deeply meaningful community-wide collaboration. And we cannot thank ALL of you enough!! ✨️🧚♀️
