🐻 What's attracting bears to neighbourhoods?

It's not just garbage.

Food scraps, bird seed, pet food, coolers, dirty barbecue grills, and even scented items left in vehicles can all attract wildlife.

As bear activity increases, now is a good time for a quick bear attractant check:

🔍 Is your garbage cart stored securely between collection days?
🔍 Are you waiting until collection morning to put your cart at the curb?
🔍 Are food scraps frozen until pickup day?
🔍 Is your vehicle free of food and scented items?

Bears that find easy meals often return, putting both people and wildlife at risk. A few minutes of prevention can help keep bears wild and our community safe.

There has been an increase in illegal dumping of furniture and household waste along several roads in the Village of Anmore.

Illegal dumping harms the environment, attracts wildlife, creates safety concerns, and increases cleanup costs for the community. Let’s keep Anmore safe, clean, and beautiful for everyone. Residents are reminded to use approved disposal and recycling facilities. The United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre offers a full-service recycling depot where many materials can be dropped off free of charge.

Improper disposal of waste may be subject to enforcement action and fines under Village bylaws. If you witness illegal dumping, please report it to the Village. If possible, include details such as the location, time, vehicle description, or licence plate information.
