📢 Did you see an Alertable notification today in the Alertable App from the Village of Anmore?

The Village of Anmore sent out an advisory message today at 11:30 a.m. through Alertable Canada to raise awareness of the annual BC ShakeOut earthquake drill, taking place Thursday, October 15, at 10:15 a.m. Learn more at shakeoutbc.ca.

This advisory is also an opportunity to continue testing Alertable, the Village’s emergency notification system, and help residents become familiar with receiving alerts. Today's message was sent as a silent notification and is available to view in the Alertable app. This means no sound or notification alert was triggered.

No action is required in response to today’s advisory message. We encourage residents to participate in the ShakeOut drill tomorrow and practise how to stay safe during an earthquake.

Anmore’s 2026 Local General Election is coming up. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballot on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 17.

General Voting Day

🕔 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
📍 Anmore Community Hub (2697 Sunnyside Road, Anmore, BC)

Parking: Parking is limited at the Hub, with two accessible parking spaces available in the upper lot. Due to limited parking, voters who live nearby are encouraged to walk or cycle to the Hub where possible. Overflow parking will be available at Anmore Elementary School from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on General Voting Day.

For those using overflow parking at Anmore Elementary School, there are two walking routes to the Hub. Due to construction, Ravenswood Drive is partially closed and Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park is fenced off, but you can still take the trails that run off Ravenswood Drive into the park or walk east on Elementary Road to Sunnyside Road. The Village of Anmore Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026 for Thanksgiving Day. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, October 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Dr. Hal Weinberg Spirit Park is a longstanding and much-loved community space, with trees, gardens, dedications and other features that hold special meaning for many residents. We recognize that the park is an important part of the community, and we appreciate the questions and concerns residents have raised.

Here are some important updates as the park renewal continues:

🪨 Chelsea Hogan Memorial Rock: The Village recognizes the importance of preserving the Chelsea Hogan memorial rock within the park. The memorial rock has been temporarily moved, and it is planned to be relocated near the existing cherry blossom tree, which remains in place, as part of the completed landscaping.

🌳 Trees and the Renewal of the Park: Some trees in the existing park were removed to accommodate the new design, which includes site regrading and other improvements required for the expansion. This included some healthy trees, as well as trees that were not healthy. We understand their importance to the community and the disappointment their removal may cause.

The renewal includes extensive new tree planting, landscaping and forest restoration throughout the expanded park to create a renewed and welcoming community space for residents and future generations. While the park is still under construction, the completed landscape is still taking shape. Details for the landscaping design can be found on our website at anmore.com/park-expansion-preferred-drawings.

🤝 Community Engagement: The park expansion was shaped through three phases of community engagement, providing opportunities for residents and community groups to share their ideas for the future of the park. Feedback gathered throughout the process helped inform the preferred design, and several ideas were incorporated into the final plan. While not every suggestion could be accommodated, we recognize the value of ideas shared by the community. The vision for the renewed park is to create a welcoming community space for residents and future generations. As construction progresses, the new Ravenswood Drive alignment, pathways, open spaces, retained and newly planted trees, forest restoration and landscaping will come together to create the completed park.

The Village will continue to share updates as construction progresses and additional information is confirmed.
