North Kawartha Connecting community, nature and spirit. The Township provides a full range of parks and year round recreational facilities and programs.

Within the Township of North Kawartha are smaller built up urbanized areas such as the Village of Apsley and the Hamlets of Woodview, Big Cedar and Glen Alda. The Village of Apsley offers medical facilities, ambulance base, a new public school with daycare, larger grocery outlets and smaller general stores, new libraries, new community centre with NHL ice pad and fitness centre, retail and commercial operations including restaurants, real estate and legal services, a Royal Canadian Legion, Community Care, Community Policing, Food Bank, two golf courses, a bank and a post office.

🗳️ Voting is Now Open for the 2026 Municipal Elections

Voting in the Township of North Kawartha is now open as of 10:00 a.m. today, October 13, 2026, and will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Monday, October 26, 2026.

✅ Who Can Vote?
You may vote in the Township of North Kawartha Municipal Election if, on Election Day, October 26, 2026, you:
✔ Are at least 18 years of age;
✔ Are a Canadian citizen;
✔ Reside, own property, or rent property in the Township of North Kawartha, or are the spouse of such a person; and
✔ Are not otherwise prohibited from voting by law.

📬 Voter Information Letters
Voter Information Letters have been mailed to all registered electors through Canada Post and should have arrived in most mailboxes by now.

Your Voter Information Letter contains your Voting PIN and the information required to access the Internet and Telephone Voting system. You will need your PIN in order to cast your ballot, so please keep your letter in a safe place until you have voted.

Municipal staff are available to provide accessibility assistance. If you require support, please identify your needs to staff upon arrival.

The Township of North Kawartha has mailed Voter Information Letters to all registered voters for the 2026 Municipal Election.

Most voters can expect to receive their letter during the week of October 5, 2026. If you have not received your Voter Information Letter by October 9, 2026, please contact the Township at 705-656-5189 or [email protected].

🗳️ Voting opens at 10:00 a.m. on October 13, 2026, and remains open until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, October 26, 2026.

The Township of North Kawartha would like to advise residents that curbside garbage collection scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026, was not completed on the following roads due to an equipment issue experienced by Waste Connections Canada.

Waste Connections Canada has advised that collection of the missed garbage on the roads listed below will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Residents are asked to bring any uncollected garbage back from the curb this evening and place it out again by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Residents whose roads are not listed below but who experienced a missed garbage collection, or who wish to report additional missed collections, complaints, or concerns, are asked to contact Waste Connections Canada directly at 705-742-4268.

The Township of North Kawartha advises residents, businesses, and visitors that the municipal lot located at 143 Burleigh Street, Apsley, will be temporarily closed to the public beginning October 13, 2026, until approximately November 27, 2026, to facilitate a construction project to establish an asphalt parking lot.

🅿 Alternative public parking is available at 135 Burleigh Street, Apsley.

During this period, the municipal lot will be closed to the public while construction activities are underway.

Members of the public are reminded to use caution when approaching the construction work zone and to remain aware of Township staff, contractors, construction vehicles, and equipment operating in the area.

The Township of North Kawartha, in consultation with Peterborough County, advises residents, businesses, and visitors of upcoming construction activities related to the development of a new asphalt parking lot at 143 Burleigh Street, Apsley.

Construction is scheduled to begin during the week of October 5, 2026, and is anticipated to continue until November 30, 2026, weather permitting.

During construction, motorists should expect single-lane road restrictions in the area of the construction project, which may result in temporary traffic delays. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and exercise caution when travelling through the construction zone.

The Township of North Kawartha advises residents and visitors that Fitch Lane Road will be temporarily closed for one-day to accommodate culvert repairs.
