A huge thank you to Josh and Alex for taking the time to visit Armstrong Public School this week!

Josh, from PYOW (Provincial Youth Outreach Worker), spoke with our junior students about the supports and services available to youth in Thunder Bay. Alex, from Dilico, also spent time with our students discussing childrenโ€™s mental health counselling and the supports available to young people.

These conversations are so important, and our students were engaged from start to finish.

The fun didnโ€™t stop there! Josh and Alex also joined us on the court for some basketball, bringing great energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of smiles. Our students had an amazing time, and it is always a pleasure to have guests who connect with our students on such a meaningful level.

Thank you, Josh and Alex, for everything you do to support youth in our communities. We look forward to having you back again soon!

Congratulations again to our Grade 8 graduates!

Last night was such a special celebration, and we are so proud of each and every one of our graduates. We wish them all the best as they take this exciting next step into high school.

A huge thank you to all of the families, friends, and community members who came out to support our students and help make the evening so memorable.

We would also like to give a special thank you to all of our staff volunteers, the members of School Council who volunteered their time, and Andrew and Berry Quarrell for generously donating a large portion of the meatballs for the dinner.

Thank you as well to the Westgate and Hammarskjold grad coaches for taking the time to make the trip up the highway to support our graduates and be part of our celebration.

Finally, we would like to thank Whitesand First Nation and Gull Bay First Nation for their continued support of our students, families, and school community.
It truly takes a community to celebrate and support our students, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make this night possible.

Congratulations, graduates! We are so proud of you!

On Wednesday, June 3rd, the Grade 4/5 class went on their much-anticipated field trip to Thunder Bay.

First, they visited the Thunder Bay Museum, where they got a guided tour of all 3 floors, and then participated in a workshop on the Silver Islet Mine. Students were able to examine genuine artifacts, as well as demonstrate their knowledge of mining and natural resources from previous science and social studies units.

After a picnic lunch and 'recess' at a park, they moved on to the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, where they again received a guided tour of all 3 gallery spaces. Students were enthralled by the many different styles and types of art, all of which were created by Indigenous artists. They ended the visit with a dot painting workshop, before beginning their journey back home. Many students expressed the fun they had throughout the day, and we hope that this trip remains an enjoyable memory for many years to come!

On Friday, June 5th, The Armstrong Public School Dance Team presented the dance they had been rehearsing for the past several weeks. Students, staff and family members were invited to watch as they performed on the stage in the gym. The mini recital was a celebration of their dedication, hard work, accomplishments, and teamwork. Bravo dancers!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ† Congratulations to Tatum Toset, our 2026 Grade 8 Award of Excellence recipient! ๐Ÿ†

Tatum is an exceptional student whose dedication, character, and commitment to learning have made him a standout member of our school community.

Throughout his elementary school years, he has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, excellent attendance, and a positive attitude toward every challenge and opportunity that comes his way.
Academically, Tatum has gone above and beyond. Through the Reach Ahead Program, he has already earned a high school credit and is working toward earning a second credit this summer, an impressive achievement that reflects his determination and forward-thinking mindset.

Beyond the classroom, Tatum is always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether supporting classmates, assisting staff, participating in fundraising initiatives, or taking on projects like building our school's LEGO Titanic display, he approaches everything with patience, focus, and enthusiasm.

Most importantly, Tatum has always remained true to himself, kind, respectful, dependable, and genuine. He is a role model for his peers and a student who makes our school a better place every day.
Congratulations, Tatum! We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished and can't wait to see what the future holds for you. ๐ŸŽ‰
