🚨 ENDORSEMENT ALERT 🚨

I'm honoured to have the support of Parth Patel, owner of Saffron, a valued Aurora business that helps make our community such a vibrant place to live, work and dine.

Here's part of what Parth had to say:

“As a local business owner, I truly appreciate Tom’s commitment to supporting businesses and strengthening our local economy. He listens, takes action, and genuinely works for the people.”

Supporting local businesses has always been a priority because when our businesses succeed, our entire community benefits. From creating the Aurora Business Continuity Task Force to championing initiatives that help businesses thrive, we'll continue working together to keep Aurora's economy strong.

Thank you, Parth, for your trust, support and confidence. I'm truly grateful.

🚨 ENDORSEMENT ALERT 🚨

I'm honoured to have the support of Jack Billingsley, a young Aurora resident who believes in a strong future for our community.

Here's part of what Jack had to say:

“From supporting local businesses and community programs to listening to residents and working toward practical solutions, Tom has consistently put the town first. His experience, vision, and passion make him the right choice to continue leading our community forward.”

Jack also highlighted something I'm incredibly proud of, seeing Aurora gain recognition not just across Ontario, but on the global stage, while never losing sight of what matters most: serving the people who call our town home.

Thank you, Jack, for your trust, support and confidence. I'm truly grateful.

Two years ago, we officially opened the doors to Aurora Town Square, a transformational project that has brought new energy to our historic downtown and created a vibrant gathering place for residents of all ages.

Aurora Town Square was decades in the making. For many years, residents, community leaders, Town staff, and members of Council shared the vision of creating a destination where arts, culture, heritage, and community life could come together. But while a vision can inspire, it takes leadership, commitment, and the courage to make a decision to turn that vision into reality.

When the time came for Council to decide whether to move Aurora Town Square forward, the project was approved by a narrow 4-3 vote. Councillors Harold Kim, Michael Thompson, Sandra Humfryes and I voted in favour, while Councillors Gallo, Gaertner and Gilliland voted against. As is often the case with significant community projects, there were differing perspectives around the Council table. Looking back, I remain deeply grateful to Councillors Kim, Thompson and Humfryes for their belief in the vision and for recognizing what this project could mean for Aurora’s future. Their support at a pivotal moment helped transform a decades-long aspiration into the thriving community destination we celebrate today.

At the time, there were those who questioned whether the project should proceed and others who doubted it would succeed. Yet leadership is not about choosing the easiest path. It is about looking beyond the challenges of the moment and making decisions that will strengthen a community for generations to come.

Today, Aurora Town Square speaks for itself.

Over the past two years, thousands of residents and visitors have walked through its doors to attend concerts, performances, exhibits, festivals, community celebrations, and special events. It has become the cultural heart of our community, a place where people gather, connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories. It has also played an important role in revitalizing our downtown and showcasing the very best of Aurora.

As we celebrate this milestone, I want to thank everyone who helped bring Town Square to life: past and present members of Council, Town staff, community partners, donors, artists, performers, volunteers, and residents. This achievement is a testament to what can be accomplished when a community comes together behind a shared vision.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Aurora Town Square!

What was once a vision discussed for decades is now one of Aurora’s most treasured community spaces. It stands as a lasting reminder that when we believe in our community, invest in its future, and have the courage to act, extraordinary things can happen.

Aurora Town Square is more than a building. It is a legacy. A legacy of vision, leadership, and belief in what Aurora can be. Two years in, it is already enriching our community in countless ways, and I have no doubt its greatest chapters are still ahead.
