August 9, 2026

0302hrs (3:02 AM)

Austin Fire responded to the report of a truck trailer on fire just east of PR 352

Firefighters found a detached 53' semi-trailer parked on the shoulder with flames and smoke showing. A quick response kept the flames from spreading into the nearby grassy ditch and spreading further, and the trailer was extinguished

0922hrs (9:22 AM)

Austin Fire responded to the report of a residential CO alarm sounding

5 members attended the residence and found all occupants safely outside with no injuries

The gas line to the home was shut off and the occupants remained outside to wait for Hydro Gas to attend

Firefighters returned the hall, ready for the next one!

June 26, 2026

1706hrs (5:06PM)

Austin Fire responded to the report of a motorcycle vs. semi at Hwy 1 and Towerline Road.

Fire crews were first on scene and established traffic control and scene security, immediately shutting down Hwy 1 eastbound.

Paramedics arrived shortly after and tended to the rider of the motorcycle. Firefighters assisted paramedics with loading the patient into the ambulance, where they were transported to hospital

Thank you to the RCMP for helping with scene and traffic as well

❗️A reminder that patience in these situations is appreciated. We understand closing a major highway can delay your travel, but please be considerate as emergency services work to create the best possible outcome

Austin Fire received a call for a vehicle vs. deer near Hwy 34 and Road 71N

Fire Chief Zacharias was in the area and attended the scene shortly after dispatch, and determined a full response was not required. All other members stood down and returned to the hall

No injuries occurred during the incident

Tuesday's meeting/training night was spent pressure testing hose and making sure our truck radios were functioning properly.

While we are enroute to calls, radios are key pieces of equipment to keep all members informed of the situation that lies ahead. Being able to communicate properly and effectively helps responding members not only physically prepare for a call, but also mentally.

A call can be very different from what is originally dispatched, so communication is key!
