🔔Village Council, staff members and a Grade 12 volunteer have officially planted 400 new trees along the creek east of Avonlea 🌳

These new plantings will form a future shelter belt, featuring a sturdy row of Prairie Sky Poplars paired with a beautiful second row of Golden, Silver, and Laurel Willows. This combination will protect and enhance for generations to come.

To ensure their long term growth, every single tree was protected by a plastic mulch film and a dedicated drip irrigation system.

A massive thank you to Rodney Sidloski from HELP International Shelterbelt Center for providing the assistance and knowledge.

The Village of Avonlea along with the SGI Provincial Traffic Safety Fund grant are committed to making our streets safer for our kids. You will notice the new signs, painted Crosswalks and speed safety radar around our school. Please slow down and respect the posted school zone speed limits and stay alert for children during mornings, recess and after school pick up.
Also please be aware of the no parking areas around the school, including along the bus lane. Children crossing through the buses either being dropped off or picked up cause a safety issue for our bus drivers.
