Proud to walk together. 🌈

Today, staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, and community members came together for RVH’s Pride Walk in celebration of inclusion, belonging, and support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in creating a welcoming environment where people can be seen, valued, and respected for who they are.

Together, we’re building a healthier, more inclusive community for all. 💙

Recovery doesn’t happen in a straight line, and the time between withdrawal management and treatment can be one of the most vulnerable stages of the journey.

In partnership with HART of Simcoe County, RVH has launched a new supportive pre-treatment program that provides a safe place to stay, along with counselling, life-skills support and 24/7 care for individuals experiencing addiction, including those facing housing instability or homelessness, as they prepare to enter RVH’s live-in addiction treatment program.

By bridging the gap between stabilization and treatment, we’re helping more people stay connected to care and access the support they need, when they need it most.

Last week, we welcomed Fariya and Mellina, two first-year Queen’s University medical students who selected as their first-choice ROMP Week placement.

From hands-on learning in our Simulation Lab to exploring the operating room and connecting with physicians and care teams, they experienced the innovation, mentorship, and learning opportunities that make RVH a leading place to train and grow.

Thank you, Fariya and Mellina, for spending your week with us. We’re proud to help inspire and support the next generation of physicians.

Last Friday, RVH came together to celebrate Indigenous culture, creativity, and connection at our Indigenous Vendor Market.

Guests enjoyed live music from Red N Blue, explored handcrafted goods from Indigenous vendors, and sampled an Indigenous-inspired menu prepared by our Patient Food Services team.

Miigwetch to the Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle, RVH's Indigenous Patient Services team, our incredible vendors, and everyone who joined us to make this celebration so meaningful.

On June 5th, RVH came alive with Indigenous art, culture, stories, and community as we welcomed local Indigenous vendors and artisans to share their talents with staff, patients, visitors, and families.

From meaningful conversations to beautiful handmade creations, the market offered an opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate the rich cultures and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the vendors who joined us and everyone who stopped by to support Indigenous businesses and take part in the experience.

As Speech & Hearing Month comes to a close, we’re recognizing the incredible impact RVH’s Speech-Language Pathologists, Audiologists, and Communicative Disorders Assistants make every day for patients and families.

This year’s theme, “Access Changes Everything,” speaks to the importance of early access to care and the role it plays in recovery, connection, and quality of life. From supporting communication, hearing, swallowing, and cognition, to helping optimize those critical first few weeks after illness or injury, early intervention can help encourage spontaneous recovery, reduce length of stay, and support patients in getting home sooner.

Across the lifespan, this team helps patients reconnect with their world in meaningful ways through compassionate, specialized care.

Thank you to our incredible Speech & Hearing team for the expertise, empathy, and support you bring to RVH every day. 👏
