Plans change, and that’s okay. 💙

If you are unable to make your medical imaging appointment at RVH, please let us know by calling to cancel or rebook at 705-739-5610. If you’ve already had your imaging done somewhere else, cancelling your RVH appointment helps open that spot for someone else who may be waiting for care.

Medical imaging services are in high demand, and one quick call can help another patient get the care they need sooner.

Recovery does not begin and end at the hospital.

This , we’re highlighting research from Jesse McLean, PhD. His recent project focused on how geography may shape the way patients respond to care.

Dr. McLean’s research team studied teens and young adults who were treated for anorexia nervosa at the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Eating Disorder Program. This allowed them to begin exploring the difference in recovery between patients from urban and rural communities.

They found that, while patients started treatment with broadly similar health measures, rural patients may not have had the same psychological improvements as urban patients once treatment was complete.

Today is Rowan’s Law Day, a reminder of the importance of concussion awareness, recognition and prevention.

Named in memory of Rowan Stringer, a young rugby player whose death highlighted the serious consequences of a concussion, Rowan’s Law was established to help protect athletes and raise awareness about concussion safety.

At Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre we encourages everyone to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, take head injuries seriously and prioritize safety when returning to sport and physical activity.

A concussion is more than just a bump on the head. Knowing what to look for, speaking up and seeking medical attention when needed can make a meaningful difference.

Let’s honour Rowan’s memory by continuing the conversation and helping create safer environments for everyone who plays, participates and enjoys being active.

A Canadian first is helping parents and caregivers stay connected to their newborns in our NICU.

The new AngelEye CameraSystem gives parents and caregivers a secure way to see their baby from anywhere, at any time, using a phone, tablet or computer.

Having a baby in the NICU can mean difficult periods of separation—whether recovering from childbirth, caring for other children, balancing work or navigating transportation and other challenges.

AngelEye helps bridge that gap by providing secure access to a baby’s bedside, supporting parent-infant bonding, reducing stress and anxiety, and strengthening connections.

“Being able to see Soleil and know she was okay and receiving the best care possible was truly amazing,” said Brieanna Croft, whose daughter was the first baby to use AngelEye in our NICU. “As first-time parents, it helped lessen so much of the anxiety that comes with having your baby in the NICU.”
