Whether you're planning a hockey game, practice, skating event, or just want extra time on the ice, our rinks at the Angus Recreation Centre and Thornton Community Centre are available to rent from mid-September through March.

🚨Most dog attacks occur when dogs are off-leash and not under control!

Even the friendliest dogs can become startled or react unexpectedly. Keeping your dog leashed is one of the simplest ways to help protect people, and pets in our community.

Under the Township of Essa's Canine Control By-law, dog owners are required to ensure their dogs do not run at large. All dogs in Essa must also be licensed and wear a valid dog tag.

Keep your dog on a leash when visiting parks, trails, and public spaces.
Maintain control of your dog at all times.
Purchase your annual dog licence and ensure your dog tag is affixed to your dog.

Looking for a place for your dog to run and play? Visit Essa's designated off-leash dog parks. Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the off-leash area, and owners must remain with and supervise their dogs at all times.

Responsible pet ownership helps keep our parks safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Three communities. One shared goal. 🏒❤️

The 2026 Hat Trick fundraiser brought together the Township of Essa, Township of Adjala Tosorontio and Town of New Tecumseth for a day of hockey, teamwork and community spirit, all in support of Stevenson Memorial Hospital

Together, they raised an incredible $21,893.39 for Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. Thanks to the Morningview Foundation’s matching gift, that impact will be doubled to $43,786.78!

The funds will support our "Because of YOU" $80 million campaign and help bring a new, modern Stevenson Memorial Hospital to life.

A huge thank you to the municipalities, mayors, councils, staff, players, volunteers, sponsors, referees and fans who made this event possible. When our communities come together, incredible things happen. 💙
