Osstf D17 TBU OSSTF District 17 Simcoe Teachers' Bargaining Unit Thank you for liking the official OSSTF/FEESO D17 TBU page. We’re glad you’re here.

Endorsed Trustee Candidate #3: SuEllen Laurin 4 SCDSB Trustee

No one know better how to create change than someone who have lived or worked within that structure. “From being an educator with the SCDSB (Adult and Cont education) I believe there are 3 top issues: [the first one is] Job security, burnout, and retaining qualified teaching and education staff are critical issues,” SuEllen said. “A vital solution would be to prioritize retaining qualified staff, and professional support service instead of implementing cuts…

Regarding all of the issues mentioned above, I would like to see the SCDSB work collaboratively with staff and unions to find constructive solutions rather than dictating them, which has created a divide between staff and the board.” Collaboration with frontline workers will always bring about change more effectively and make implementation smoother overall.

We look forward to getting to work with SuEllen in the future to create the change that is necessary. If you are in Oro-Medonte or Springwater, vote for SuEllen!

Endorsed Trustee Candidate #2: Adam Harrod for School Board Trustee - Collingwood & Wasaga Beach

Adam immediately stood out as someone who was both knowledgeable about the realities and passionate about making change to the current school system. “School safety is one of the main reasons I decided to run,” Adam said. “Violence, serious behavioural incidents, and repeated classroom disruptions cannot simply become accepted as part of going to school or your work in education. At the same time, students whose behaviour is connected to complex needs require appropriate and intensive supports… I don’t see those as competing objectives. We should be able to support students with significant needs while also protecting the safety of other students and staff.”

We know that Adam will be an amazing advocate towards creating truly safe and inclusive schools for both staff and students. If you are Collingwood or Wasaga Beach, cast your vote for Adam!

Endorsed Trustee Candidate #1: Sarah Beitz

Sarah has been an incredible advocate for both staff and students in SCDSB over the last 4 years. “Over the past 8 years I have spoken up and out against a number of board/government policies that I have thought were not in the best interest of students and staff,” Sarah said. “For example, transparency and clear communication amid the uncertainty of the pandemic, the board’s attempt to eliminate examinations and put them in regular days, Recovery/improvement/feedback days, school violence, etc.” Sarah speaks up at every meeting and always with the intention of improving SCDSB schools for staff and students.
