We’re running low on reusable bags, and we need YOUR help! 💚 Every bag helps someone carry food home with dignity.

🟢 Check under your sinks, in closets, and even in the trunk of your car for any extras you can donate!

📦 Drop them off in one of our Barrie Food Bank donation bins located at participating grocery stores throughout Barrie, or bring them directly to our 📍 location at 42 Anne St.

Feed Ontario supports more than 1,200 food banks and hunger-relief organizations like Barrie Food Bank as we work to meet the unique needs of our communities.

They do this by providing us with training, grant opportunities, and investment in innovative programs that help us secure the resources and infrastructure we need here in Barrie.

When you visit your local Subway Canada restaurant and purchase Subway cookies from June 15-21, a donation will be made to Food Banks Canada to help feed kids in our communities across the country.
Thanks to this funding, for the past 2 years, Barrie Food Bank has been able to provide nutritious, child-friendly food packs including perishable items such as apples, sugar snap peas, cheese and yogurt to distribute to 140 children throughout the summer when school-centred supports are not available so kids can soar on the swings and splash in the community pool with their friends.

🔐 A huge thank you to Surelock Homes for their incredible generosity in re-keying the entire Barrie Food Bank facility at absolutely no cost.

With more than 175 volunteers, along with staff, interns, contractors, and service providers coming through our doors over the years, this important security upgrade had been on our wish list for some time.

Thanks to Homes, this project is now complete. Their donation has provided something that is difficult to put a price on: peace of mind.

Acts of kindness like this remind us how fortunate we are to have such caring community partners.

Barrie Food Bank is a member of Feed Ontario, the province's largest collective of food banks and hunger-relief organizations working together to end hunger in Ontario.
As more and more people need to turn to food banks to get by, Feed Ontario is helping us meet the rising need in our community.

If you have a talent for leading volunteers, building community partnerships, coordinating programs, developing meaningful relationships, organizing events, mentoring students and interns, and inspiring others to make a difference, this role may be for you!

This position plays a key leadership role in supporting our incredible team of 175+ volunteers while overseeing community programs such as School Fuel, Little Pantries, After the Bell student placements, and other initiatives that help address food insecurity in our community.

📊 In May, Barrie Food Bank recorded 7,575 visits, highlighting the ongoing need for food support in our community.

Children and seniors continue to be among those most affected by food insecurity. Behind every visit is a person, family, child, or older adult facing difficult circumstances and turning to our community for help.

🌎 World Environment Day reminds us that every action counts.

At Barrie Food Bank, we see every day how food rescue, waste reduction, and community support go hand in hand.

Through our Food Recovery Program, and in partnership with 15 Barrie grocery stores and our local farmers, we diverted more than 800,000 pounds of perishable food from landfills and redirected it to individuals and families in our community.

The impact goes beyond feeding people:
🌱 Equivalent to planting 20,950 tree seedlings and growing them for 10 years.
🚗 Equivalent to removing 5,225,618 kilometres driven by a gasoline-powered vehicle from our roads.

By rescuing surplus food, we're helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect valuable resources, and build a more sustainable future for everyone.
