in support of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County.

Ride for Refuge is more than a bike ride and a walk.
It’s a chance to come together, get moving
and raise funds to support people in our community
who are navigating some incredibly
difficult circumstances.

Justice does not end at the prison walls.

August 10th marks Prisoners’ Justice Day - a day to remember those who have lost their lives while incarcerated, honour those who continue to speak out for change and to also reflect on the importance of dignity, compassion and of course human rights for all.

Behind every statistic is a person.

At Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka we believe that accountability and compassion can exist together. We work toward a future where people are supported. We address where women and individuals are impacted by the justice system and are seen as more than the circumstances that brought them there.

Today we recognize the humanity beyond incarceration. We continue to advocate for a justice system rooted in dignity and meaningful change.

Let’s change the stigma…

When we hear the word “incarcerated” it’s easy to make assumptions about a someone’s story before ever knowing it.

But it is only one chapter…it does not define who they are, what they have experienced or what their future can become.

Many women who come into conflict with the law have faced barriers, trauma, poverty, homelessness systems etc. that have failed to provide the support they needed. Understanding these realities doesn’t erase accountability but it creates space for healing & change.

At Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka we believe in seeing the person beyond the label.

A story is never just one chapter. 💜
