Today marks the first day of a new school year for students, teachers and staff across the Municipality of Barrington!

Council would like to wish everyone a safe, positive and successful school year ahead.

As students return to their daily routines, we’re reminding drivers to slow down in school zones, watch carefully for children crossing the road, and use extra caution around school buses. A little extra attention helps keep everyone safe.

And to all our students — from those heading off for their very first day of school to those beginning their final year before graduation, we hope you have a fantastic year!

As students return to school tomorrow, we remind all drivers to exercise extra caution on the roads.

When school bus lights are flashing red, you must stop in both directions.
Never pass a school bus that is stopped for children.
Slow down in school zones and watch for children crossing the street.
Allow yourself extra time in the mornings and afternoons — buses will resume their regular routes.

Let’s all do our part to keep students safe as they head to and from school.

Please be advised that the parking lot at Stoney Island Beach will be temporarily closed tomorrow, August 13, beginning at 9:00 a.m. for approximately one hour.

The closure is necessary while electrical wiring is installed for our new washroom/changeroom facility. Work on the new facility is progressing well, and we’re looking forward to having this new amenity available for beach users.

We apologize for any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while this work is completed.

Thank you for your cooperation!
