We know everyone's ready for this to be over, and the effort across Beaumont these past few days has been real. Thank you for that.

Here's where things stand: water use restrictions are staying in place for now, and we're asking you to keep reducing non-essential water use a little longer.

Think of it like a parking lot after a concert. The show's over, but everyone's still trying to get out at once. It moves slow, it takes time, but it clears. Our wastewater system is in that same spot right now. The rain has eased, but all that water is still making its way out, so the system needs more time to catch up.

Every municipality got a different amount of rain and is recovering at its own pace. Some nearby areas are easing their restrictions. Beaumont isn't there yet, especially with more rain expected later this week.

A few things that still help:
🚿Shorter showers, fewer baths
💦Delay laundry and run the dishwasher only when full
🚱Tap off when brushing teeth or shaving
❌Hold off on washing vehicles, driveways, and decks
❌Hold off on watering lawns, running sprinklers, and filling hot tubs, and pools

🌧️With more rain coming, it's also a good time to prep your property: direct downspouts away from your foundation, clear your eavestroughs, and test your sump pump.

Beaumont’s emergency alert was renewed today. While some neighbouring municipalities lifted their alerts, we’re holding off a bit longer. Our wastewater system needs more time to catch up, and with more rain possible later this week, we’d rather stay cautious now until levels return to normal.

🤝Our collective efforts have made a difference, but we need to stay the course a bit longer. We’re asking residents and businesses to continue to reduce non-essential water use to allow the system to catch up.

Here’s what you can do to continue to help:
💧 Delay laundry and dishwashing
💧 Take short showers, skip the bath
💧 Avoid flushing unless necessary
💧 Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving
💧 Hold off on washing the car
💧 Skip other non-essential water use where you can

We know it’s been a long few days and we truly appreciate the community’s efforts to reduce water use where possible. Thanks for helping your community and neighbours by reducing your water use a little bit longer.

🚫The Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre and Four Seasons Spray Park remain closed today.

City of Beaumont - Local Government Non-essential water use update: June 22, 2026, at 10 a.m.

ℹ️ Update on non-essential water use alert for City of Beaumont - June 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM
Rain is forecast through much of Monday, with a risk of thundershowers in the afternoon. The Alberta Emergency Alert remains in effect and residents are asked to continue to keep their water use to a minimum.

⛔The Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre is closed today to reduce water use and strain on the wastewater system.

💧Water levels remained steady overnight; however, the wastewater system throughout the region is strained, with several other communities issuing calls for residents to reduce water use, including Edmonton, St. Albert, Morinville, Stony Plain, and others.

Stormwater ponds are at high levels and several trails have flooded in parts of Beaumont. Please stay back from these ponds and stay off the trails – water levels can rise unexpectedly.

City crews are monitoring our roads, storm ponds and culverts and other infrastructure, but we still need your help throughout the day. Every effort contributes to helping prevent more backups and flooding.

🤝Here’s what you can do:

🧺delay laundry and dishwashing
🚿take short showers and limit baths
🚽avoid flushing toilets (unless absolutely necessary)
🪥do not run water when brushing your teeth or shaving
🚗 avoid washing vehicles
❌ eliminate any other non-essential water use activities

❗Due to the heavy rainfall, several stormwater ponds and surrounding pathways are starting to experience localized flooding. Our crews are actively monitoring the situation and are aware of areas where stormwater levels are high.

Please stay back from these ponds and stay off the paths - water levels can rise quickly.

Update June 1, 2026: The first advisory has been lifted, as conditions have improved.

The City of Beaumont has issued a fire advisory effective May 6, 2026, at 4 pm. This precautionary measure is being taken due to warm, dry conditions.

✅ What's still allowed:
• Campground and backyard fires in approved, contained fire pits with a valid fire permit
• Gas and propane appliances (barbecues, portable firepits, heaters, stoves, etc.)

⚠️ Please use caution with all firepits and gas/propane appliances during the advisory. Call 9-1-1 immediately if you spot a fire.

📋 Note: New fire permits may be restricted while the advisory is in effect. Existing permits remain valid until they expire or until the advisory is upgraded.

🥞 Sirens & Syrup: What a Weekend at Beaumont Days! 🚒

Our community really knows how to show up! BFS had a great time catching up with neighbors, meeting new, friendly faces and celebrating Beaumont Days together.

From flipping flapjacks at the pancake breakfast to cheering loudly for firefighters during the parade, the energy in the city was incredible.

Beyond all the fun, food and community spirit, it was also a fantastic reminder of the incredible team we have keeping residents and our beloved city safe. A huge shoutout to our local BFS firefighters who are always there for us 🧑‍🚒🔥

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so special. Beaumont truly has the best community spirit around!

While the weekend forecast is bringing some cooler temperatures, conditions on the ground are still very dry, meaning the risk of fire remains high.

Beaumont Fire Services continues to monitor the situation, but keeping our community safe is a team effort. Let’s be proactive and look out for one another by practicing extra caution.

How residents can help this weekend:
⚠️Play it safe: Exercise extreme caution if you are having a recreational backyard fire.
🍔Watch the gear: Never leave gas or propane portable appliances unattended when they are being used.
🧯Put out your fires: Ensure all fires are completely extinguished before walking away.
