The District is also responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities for the administration of Zoning By-laws, Zoning Amendments.

What is an Accessory Structure? A detached accessory structure is one that supports the use of a single family or two family dwelling on the same property. A detached garage or other detached accessory structure requires a Building Permit if it is more than 10 m2 (108 sq. ft.).

Other examples include:
Carports
Storage Sheds
Gazebos
Workshops, etc.

Please contact our office prior to starting any work on accessory structures to obtain the proper permits!

The RM of Brokenhead is providing notice of the Open House now, so people have lots of notice to attend this Informational Open House. It is not a requirement to have this Open House, however Council felt it important to add this extra meeting for people to attend, review, discuss and provide feedback regarding the proposed changes. Once the Open House is done, Council will review the feedback received and finalize all the changes to the Zoning By-Law. There will be another formal notice and public hearing scheduled once the changes have been finalized after the Open House.
