We wrapped up our Wildcat bookclub yesterday evening. A huge thank you and shout out to all participants - what valuable conversations were had. So grateful for the community that was established as well as the support for each other in supporting each other to limit screen time and social media for our children.

One last “food for thought”. The book primarily looks at Gen Z (born 1997–2012) as the first generation to hit puberty with smartphones. We are now seeing the Alpha Generation (born 2013–2025) grow up with tablets and smart devices from infancy.

Do you feel like the cultural pendulum is finally starting to swing back toward real-world living and play or has the phone-based childhood become too deeply embedded to reverse?

Inclusion belongs on the diamond! Challenger Baseball—delivered across Ontario in partnership with Baseball Canada and the Jays Care Foundation—is an amazing adaptive program empowering youth living with physical and cognitive disabilities. Today our Wildcat ERP students had a great day at the Field of Ability showing off their skills and having so much fun. Thank you to all of our amazing teachers and educational assistants who made this day a great one for our students. And a special shout out to ERP teacher Mrs. Evers who is the convener of the Challenger Baseball program for the HPEDSB. The smiles say it all 💗 ⚾️😎

Each backpack can be purchased by families for just $12.00 per child, making it an accessible option for many. Registration is now open online at www.unitedwayhpe.ca/backpacks and will remain open until Friday, July 17, 2026 or while quantities last.
