Good Neighbor Day is coming up on September 16, and we’re looking for a few community volunteers to help make the day a success!

🏴‍☠️ Join the Pirate Ship Crew!
Help supervise the 22-ft Bouncy Pirate Ship and keep the fun sailing for the kids.

🌭🍔 Help in the Kitchen!
Lend a hand serving hot dogs & hamburgers. Our Chef's will be the Blindman Valley Lions Club.

⏰ You don’t have to stay for the whole event!
Even an hour or two between 3:30–7:30 PM would be greatly appreciated. Every little bit of volunteer time helps!

Whether you enjoy working with kids, helping with food, or simply want to lend a hand in your community, we’d love to have you join us.

Notice of Decommissioning and Removal of Play Structure

August 27, 2026

The Town of Bentley would like to advise residents that Mayor and Council approved the decommissioning and removal of the wooden play structure located at 4918 50 avenue (Oxford Park) during the August 25, 2026, Regular Council Meeting.

The Town’s Public Works Department is scheduled to complete the removal of the structure on September 8 and 9, 2026. During this work, the park will be closed to the public to allow the work to be completed safely.

Why is the structure being removed?

The decision follows as assessment of the existing wooden playground structure that identified a number of deficiencies when measured against applicable Canadian Standards Association (CSA) playground safety requirements. The deficiencies identified include concerns related to:

• Elevated swing rings that exceed the recommended height and spacing requirements;
• The track slide handgrip is positioned above the applicable height range;
• The slide slope exceeds the applicable ratio;
• Rigid openings that fall within dimensions associated with potential child entrapment hazards

While some individual deficiencies may be addressed through repairs or modifications, the number and nature of the deficiencies identified on the structure create broader safety concerns. After considering the current condition, age, ongoing maintenance requirements, and potential cost associated with remediation, Council has determined that decommissioning and removal was the appropriate course of action.

Will the structure be replaced?

Yes, Mayor and Council recognize the importance of providing safe and accessible recreational spaces for local families and have directed Administration to purchase an appropriate replacement structure, with a tentative installation timeline of Spring 2027.

Residents are asked to please stay clear of the work area while the removal is underway and to follow any temporary signage or barricades that are in place.

The Town appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation while this work is completed.

UPDATE: CBO anticipates a start date of September 1, 2026 and hopes to have rear access to the properties re-instated by October 1, 2026. With recent weather impacts on the projects we are currently completing we have unfortunately been delayed. We DO NOT forsee further elays and apologize for the change in schedule.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
48 and 49 Avenue Sewer Replacement - Start Date August 12/26
The Town of Bentley is upgrading the existing sanitary lines that service your property and providing basic widening and improvements to the laneway.
CBO Earthworks will be completing this work for the Town working under Stantec’s guidance and inspection.
This project will require the closure of the lane behind your property to be closed for the duration of construction. This will mean you will not be able to access your property from the rear. Your garages, parking pads and yards will NOT have access until we successfully complete the installation of the new sanitary line and have your service connections connected to it. However, if you have special access requirements, please reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Please note that work is not planned to extend into private property, including sewer line work within private property. Rest assured there will be NO disruption to the water or sewer services to your house. The condition of the lane along your property line will be restored to how they were prior to construction with a wider, freshly gravelled lane.
We appreciate your patience during this time.
CBO anticipates a start date of August 12, 2026, and hopes to have rear access to your property re-instated by August 28 ,2026. There will be other work happening around the back lanes that may restrict access for short periods of time, but you would still have access from one end of the lane or the other after August 28, 2026.
Again, CBO appreciates your patience and do want to ask that you respect the equipment and workers that are completing the work. We ask that everyone is mindful that there will be open excavations and not to enter the work zones as there will be unsafe conditions and CBO wants to impact everyone in a positive way not to have anybody trip or fall on construction debris.
That all to say CBO will work diligently to ensure we keep our construction schedule on course and not cause you any further inconvenience.

Our Stay & Play Program has traditionally been held on Friday mornings for little ones and their parents/caregivers from 9-11:30 a.m.

Due to cross over scheduling times with the Library Nature Skool program this fall, serving the same age group, we are considering moving Stay & Play to Monday mornings from 9:00–11:30 a.m.

We want as many opportunities available to families as possible without having to chose which to attend. Before making any changes, we want to hear from our families! 💬
