NOTICE OF OFFICE CLOSURE: Tomorrow, June 8, 2026

Pleased be advised that all Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation offices will be closed on Monday, June 8, 2026, out of respect for the Bunn/Bearbull Family.

We extend our sincere condolences and prayers to the Bunn and Bearbull families during this time of loss.

Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

COMMUNITY NOTICE

Please be advised that Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation leadership have been informed that a train derailment has occurred outside of the Nation. At this time, no dangerous goods have been reported and CN response teams have been activated and are responding to the incident.

If necessary, additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for everyone, there is a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol. Bags may be searched, incident reports will be filed, and violations may affect participation in future activities.

Please be on time for departures, as the buses will leave as scheduled. The buses will travel directly to the fair and return home, with no additional stops.

Each bus has seating for 50 passengers, for a total capacity of 100 participants. To sign up, or if you have questions call the Band Office at (204) 568-4540.

Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation would like to extend our sincere condolences and prayers to the family of Jodi Bunn, her loved ones, our entire community, and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time.

Casey King Paul will be available at the church this afternoon and tomorrow for anyone seeking counselling, support, or someone to talk to. Isaias Harper will also be available tomorrow to provide support services.

The loss of a community member is felt by us all. We encourage anyone who may need support to access the services available.

Congratulations, Jocelyn Bunn!

Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation would like to extend our congratulations to Jocelyn Bunn on graduating from Assiniboine Community College with her Early Childhood Education (ECE) II Diploma.

This achievement is especially meaningful to Jocelyn, who completed her studies while setting an example for her children. Reflecting on her accomplishment, she shared, “This means a lot to me. I’m doing this for my children to show them that no matter when you begin your journey, it’s possible to achieve anything.”

She would like to thank her husband and family for believing in her, Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation for its support, and her instructors at Assiniboine Community College for their guidance throughout her studies.

When asked what advice she would offer others, Jocelyn said, “Do what your heart desires and never stop learning.”

Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation would like to extend our congratulations to the 14 Driver’s Education students who have successfully earned their Beginner’s Licences. This is an important milestone, and we look forward to seeing you continue to grow in confidence and safety on the road.

For those who were not eligible for the program due to age or who were unable to attend, the program will be offered again in the near future. Please stay tuned for further details.

June 2026 Income Assistance cheques will be distributed on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Band Office.

For those who submitted direct deposit information on time, payments will be deposited on or around Friday, May 29, depending on your financial institution’s processing times.
