Did you know that it’s the law to have working smoke alarms and Carbon monoxide alarms in your home?

Under Saskatchewan's Building Code Regulations and The Construction Codes Act, all residential homes and buildings with sleeping rooms must have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms by law. This applies to all properties regardless of when the building was constructed.

Additionally under “Henry’s Law” all landlords, building owners, condominium boards etc are required to install Carbon Monoxide Alarms in suites or buildings regardless of age. This law takes effect November 1st 2026.

Please remember that Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Alarms protect you and your family from tragedy! Seconds matter in fires and carbon monoxide leaks.

07/31/2026

As of November 1, Saskatchewan building owners are responsible for ensuring carbon monoxide (CO) alarms are installed, maintained and tested in each residential suite or unit.

Take action now to protect residents and ensure compliance with safety requirements. https://bit.ly/4x0gLhD
