The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre shares the history of the Crowsnest Pass and the Frank Slide. It is open all year and visitors will be greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who will share the fascinating stories of the Frank Slide through dynamic interpretive programs and presentations. State-of-the-art interactive displays and exhibits throughout the Centre focus on the infamous Frank Slid

Winter Hours (Day after Labour Day - May 14):
Open Tuesday-Sunday 10:00am to 5:00 pm
Closed Mondays (Expect for Holiday Mondays)

Summer Hours (May 15 - Labour Day):
Open Daily 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Closed: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Day & Easter Sunday

One of our most common myths about the Frank Slide is the story of the lone survivor who they named Frankie Slide.

This story is not accurate. There were three young girls who were all called ‘Frankie Slide’. They included Marion Leitch, Gladys Ennis and Fernie May Watkins. In addition to the three girls, there were approximately 500 others in the town of Frank who survived.

On August 2, a special tour of the eastern side of the Old Frank Road will take place. Hear what happened the night Turtle Mountain fell and if it will happen again.

Beginning at 11:00am at the Frank Slide Memorial on the Old Frank Road. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear.

No, the bank survived the Frank Slide. The sign for the bank can be seen in this photo taken after the Frank Slide.

During recent research, a staff member found this myth in the Blairmore Enterprise newspaper in 1924 making this myth over 100 years old!
