School Zones and Traffic

SCHOOL ZONES NOW IN EFFECT! Our standard school zone speed limits and rules are active again. Please adjust your driving and stay alert for all our students!

USE EXTRA CAUTION! Kids are excited to be back and can appear suddenly. Please keep your eyes on the road and give them extra room.

21st AVE IS ONE WAY WEST BOUND ONLY! The block of 21st Ave in front of the school is a one-way street going west. To help you visualize, we have a helpful diagram below.

The halls are about to be buzzing again, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another great year at Bowden Grandview School! 📚✨

A new school year means new friendships, new memories, new challenges—and LOTS of opportunities to get involved!

🏐 ATHLETICS ARE BACK! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We’re kicking things off with volleyball tryouts and workouts during the first week back. Check out the schedule below for all the details.

All other athletic dates and times will be given directly to athletes at their practices.
Cross Country Running will have a lunch meeting during the first week back. Keep an ear out for announcements about when and where!

BGS Students Enjoy a Special Theatre Experience

BGS students recently had the opportunity to enjoy a performance by the Wide Open Children's Theatre and their entertaining Robert Munsch Puppet Theatre.

Students were captivated by the lively puppets, engaging storytelling, and humorous characters inspired by the beloved stories of Robert Munsch. The performance brought many of these well-known tales to life, creating plenty of laughter and excitement throughout the audience.

Experiences like these help foster a love of reading, storytelling, and the arts while providing students with a memorable and enjoyable learning opportunity. Thank you to the performers for sharing their creativity and talent with our school community! 🎭📚✨

Drumming and Dancing Presentation at BGS

In May, students at Bowden Grandview School were treated to a powerful and engaging presentation of drumming and dancing featuring Clare Butterfly, Deen Johnston, Patrick Mitsuing, along with special guests.

The presentation shared music, dance, stories, and cultural teachings, offering students a meaningful opportunity to learn through performance and connection. Throughout the year, students also worked alongside Clare to create pieces that were proudly shared during the event, highlighting their learning and participation.

Thank you to our guests for sharing their talents, culture, and stories, and to our students for their enthusiasm and respect throughout the experience. It was a memorable and impactful event for everyone involved at Bowden Grandview School.

Foods Students Support the Breakfast Program

This semester, Foods students have been working on a project credit dedicated to supporting our Breakfast Program. Throughout the project, students have taken on many responsibilities, including planning menus, purchasing ingredients, and arriving early to help prepare and serve breakfast.

Their hard work and creativity have brought a variety of new menu items to the program, including several types of muffins, gluten-free French toast sticks, quiche, and smoothies. These additions have helped provide nutritious and delicious options for students each morning.

We are proud of the dedication, teamwork, and initiative these students have shown. Their efforts have made a positive impact on our school community. Great job, Foods students! 👏🍳🥤🧁

There are some fantastic summer camp opportunities available right in Olds!

🎨⚽ Community Learning Campus (CLC) – Olds

The Community Learning Campus offers a wide variety of summer camps for children ages 7–12. With themes ranging from sports and recreation, cooking and baking, science and creativity, outdoor adventures, water activities, and more, there’s something for every interest. These camps are designed to keep kids active, engaged, creative, and having fun all summer long!

🌞🏕️ Town of Olds Summer Camps

The Town of Olds welcomes children ages 5–9, including those with varying disabilities. Campers should come prepared each day with:
✅ Packed lunch and snacks
✅ Water bottle
✅ Indoor shoes
✅ Clothing suitable for outdoor weather

🏊 Fridays include swimming at the Olds Aquatic Centre, so don't forget a swimsuit and any additional items needed for a safe and enjoyable swim.

Please note: Children who require an aide must have a qualified aide attend for the duration of camp.

In June, students from Ms. SG’s Foods class participated in a field trip to the Jungle Farm as part of their Farm-to-Table module. During the visit, students learned about the variety of products grown on the farm and the many items produced on-site.

Beyond exploring different plants, growing seasons, and farming practices, students had the opportunity to experience firsthand the work that goes into producing food. They embraced the experience with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to get involved. The trip was a wonderful reminder that learning extends beyond the classroom and can be both educational and enjoyable.

Thank you to the staff at The Jungle Farm for providing such an engaging and memorable learning experience for our students.

🎉📚 Last Day of School – June 26! 📚🎉

The final day of classes for the 2025-2026 school year is Friday, June 26, with a 12:00 PM dismissal.

As we wrap up another fantastic year, please make sure students take home all personal belongings from classrooms, hallways, lockers, and the Lost & Found. Our amazing custodial team will be busy getting the school sparkling clean and ready for August, and any items left behind may be donated or disposed of during the summer cleaning process.

🚌 Reminder: Students will be dismissed at noon.

Thank you for a wonderful school year! We wish all of our Bowden Grandview School families a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer! ☀️😎
