Smooth waters and even better company 🛶✨

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who grabbed a paddle and joined us at Sage Creek yesterday. Watching a fleet of canoes hit the water together is always something special, and yesterday was no exception. We couldn’t ask for a better crew to explore with!

STOP SELLING INVASIVE PLANTS Garden centres play a central role in what goes into our gardens and they are implicated if that results in the spread of invasive species and biodiversity loss. Together we need to treat the plants in our gardens not simply as garden decor or outdoor living space, but as something that's connected to the greater living world.

Several Canadian cities are pursuing bylaws to restrict the sale of invasive plants by garden centres and nurseries. Advocates with the Canadian Coalition for Invasive Plant Regulation say a federal horticulture body and invasive plant database would help a biodiversity crisis in the making.

Canada's private forests play a vital role in protecting biodiversity, storing carbon, supporting wildlife, and strengthening our communities.

If you own or manage private forest land in Canada—or work for an organization that does—you’re invited to participate in Canada's Private Forests: A National Survey.

🌲 The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.
🌿 Your responses will help researchers better understand who owns and manages private forests, what motivates stewardship, and how landowners are responding to challenges like climate change, invasive species, wildfires, and economic pressures.
🤝 From Canadian Forest Owners in collaboration with McGill University and Mitacs, a non-profit national research organization.

Whether your forest is a woodlot, sugarbush, managed timberland, shelterbelt, or any treed property you consider a forest, your perspective matters.

Your input will help inform future policies and programs that better support private forest owners and the important work they do. Survey deadline is September 14, 2026.

Awareness is so important! The more who know about the effects of boat wakes and how to protect docks, wildlife and shoreline, the better!

A small change in speed makes a big difference.

When you're close to shore:
🚤 Slow down.
🌊 Reduce your wake.
🏡 Help protect docks, shorelines, swimmers, and wildlife.

A little courtesy helps keep Ontario's lakes safe and enjoyable for everyone.

First of many phrag visits = many more phrag posts to come. 🌾💚

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers for joining our staff yesterday evening for the first phragmites removal session of the season! Every stalk removed helps make more room for native plants and wildlife to thrive. We couldn’t do it without your support!
