Muskoka Conservancy Protecting over 6,700 acres of land, 84,800 feet of shoreline riparian area, and 1,128 acres of wetland We protect land for its ecological values.

Muskoka Conservancy is the nature conservancy of Muskoka. In support of this, we run community conservation activities like the Little Sprouts Eco Club and Nature Quest guided hikes.

A full day of conservation in the books! 🌿 We spent the early morning at South Monck Nature Reserve and then headed over to the Nelson Head Nature Reserve for some invasive species management.

🐢🥚 IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR! 🥚🐢

Nesting season is officially here in Muskoka! Across Ontario, female turtles are currently making their journeys to find the perfect sunny spot to lay their eggs.

Meet Gloria! 💖 She was spotted hard at work laying her eggs. It is a beautiful and critical moment for our local wildlife, but it’s also when they are most vulnerable. If you see a nesting turtle like Gloria on your property or out in the community, give her plenty of space to safely do her job!

Meet Jonah Gonthier, the Muskoka Conservancy’s 2026 Bursary Recipient! 🎓✨

Growing up on a small lake in the Lake of Bays, Jonah developed a deep passion for the natural world. Next year, he’s heading to Nipissing University in North Bay to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a field biologist! 🔬🌲

Jonah was inspired to take this path after an incredible research trip to Peru last year, and we couldn’t be prouder to support the next generation of conservation scientists right here from Muskoka.

Join us in wishing Jonah the absolute best of luck in his studies! We can’t wait to see the amazing impact you’ll make in the field of biology, Jonah! 💚👋

It was an incredible afternoon filled with community updates, meaningful connections, and shared passion for protecting Muskoka’s unique landscapes and wildlife.
