ResQ Youth International

ResQ Youth International ResQ started on March 2001 as a non-profit community organization providing support for at-risk youth.

Formed from a group of law enforcers, crown attorneys, lawyers, educators and community representatives dedicated to supporting youth in crisis ResQ Youth International was established in 2001 by a group of educators, lawyers, police officers and community representatives to provide support for youth in crisis. Our initial focus was to address the issue of recidivism but we later expanded our serv

ices to include school and community involvement for disenfranchised, racialized, and marginalized Black youths. The clientele comes mainly from referrals by lawyers and faith groups who have recognized that we are heavily invested in the success of our youth and community. We provide culturally sensitive inclusionary programs especially to those who are disadvantaged by virtue of their socio-economic status and are uniquely positioned to provide culturally appropriate diversity training to school principals and administrators. As importantly, we host seminars, workshops and conferences/symposiums on a variety of topics relevant to the Black community. ResQ has benefited from a wide range of professional volunteers including, a psychotherapist, social workers, educators, lawyers, police officers and community members experienced in youth related issues. Our core programs are Counselling, Education, Mediation and Mentoring, including but not limited to:
• Mediation and Advocacy Program (MAP)
• Youth Engagement Partnership (PEN)
• Parent Empowerment Network (PEN)
• Restorative Justice Program
• Life-skills Training/Character Building Program
• Summer Camp program (Music/Academics)
• A Placement Program (practicum for university/college/high school
students.) CURRENT BOARD
