Reading is for everyone, all year long! Help kids keep up their reading skills while school is out, with our Summer Reading Program. This free program is for everyone of all ages, which means entire families can do the challenge together, encouraging each other to hit their reading goals and earn tickets to enter to win a prize! You can hand in one tracker for July and one tracker for August at the end of each month (a winner is drawn each month). For children (0+), each book you read gets you a ticket. For teens (13+), every 100 pages you read gets you a ticket. For adults (18+), every 200 pages you read gets you a ticket. You can also do our bonus challenges for extra tickets! These challenges include visiting other branches, trying our eResources, and attending programs! For more information on the program, prizes, and what’s happening at the library this summer, contact your local branch!

Annie Knows Everything by Rachel Wood follows Annie after she gets fired from her dream job at a tech company in New York on the same day she finds out her sister got engaged to the worst man ever. When she sees an open position on her company's data strategy team, she's determined to get it even though she has no experience. Conner, the interim department head, doesn't think it will work but Annie manages to convince him due to her insider knowledge that they need someone socially capable. So now Annie must try to succeed in a job that she has no business doing, try to navigate the budding tension with Conner and try to convince her sister to not go through with the wedding.

This book is easily one of my favourites of the year so far. I was easily drawn in by the writing style because it's sharp, funny and at times really heartfelt. There were so many times that I laughed out loud at the dialogue between the many great characters but obviously the dynamic between Annie and Conner was the best part. Conner was such a great love interest and the author did a great job building the tension between them. The banter between the pair was so endearing that you couldn't help but root for them. Another huge part of the story was Annie's strained relationship with her sister which I can relate to having a sister of my own. Annie is in no way a "perfect" character which to me made her more likeable. She was flawed and it was so satisfying seeing her growth throughout the novel. I truly loved this book and it reminded me of another one I loved, also by a Canadian author, called I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue.

Annie Knows Everything by Rachel Wood is available as a physical copy as well as an eBook and audiobook on Libby. To request the physical copy, search the title through the Catalogue on our website.
