What does a flashing green light mean? It means a volunteer firefighter is on their way to an emergency! 💚

In the County of Brant, our firefighters are volunteers. When an emergency happens, they drop everything—whether they’re at work, home or out with their families—and head to the fire hall or emergency scene.

What should you do? If you see a vehicle with a flashing green light, please yield or pull over safely.

In an emergency, every second counts. Share this important information with your family, friends and neighbours. We want everyone to get home safely!

The County of Brant Fire Department is recruiting Volunteer Firefighters!

Volunteer firefighting is a truly rewarding way to give back to the community. We recruit volunteer firefighters to join our team through a thorough screening process.

This process includes:
🔥 Written aptitude test
🔥 Group one-way interview
🔥 Physical and mental abilities screening test
🔥 Individual interview
🔥 Reference checks

Once a candidate is accepted into the fire department, they must pass a Recruit Training Program, then serve as a probationary firefighter for 12 months. After achieving several milestones during the first year, a probationary firefighter may be accepted as a full member.

Visit brant.ca/FireRecruitment for more information and to apply today! Applications close on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 9:00 am.

County of Brant Firefighters will conduct a controlled burn this Saturday, September 28, 2024, to train firefighters and officers in fire attack strategies and fire dynamics.

"Controlled burns allow us to provide real-life training for our crews in a safe environment," said Fire Chief Darren Watson. "This training includes new recruits, seasoned firefighters, and our Fire Safety Officers."

The training will cover fire attack size-ups, fire dynamics, and evaluating thermal cameras. A fire attack size-up is the continuous evaluation of a fire scene, starting from the alarm until the fire is controlled. Fire dynamics involve understanding how fires start, spread, and extinguish.

Training Schedule:
Saturday, September 28 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at 213 Bethel Road, Brant.

“Please avoid the area if possible during the controlled burn, as it will be smoky and there will be multiple fire service vehicles on-site,” added Chief Watson.
