⚠️ Fraud Alert: Be cautious of emails claiming to be from the Township of Ramara ⚠️
The Township of Ramara has been made aware of a fraudulent email received by a resident that appeared to be from the Township and included an invoice.
While the Township is currently aware of one reported incident, we are sharing this information as a precaution and encouraging residents and businesses to remain vigilant when receiving emails, invoices or payment requests claiming to be from the Township.
Fraudulent emails can be designed to look legitimate and may include familiar names, logos, branding, invoices or other information intended to make the message appear authentic.
📧 Check the sender’s email address. Email correspondence sent directly by Township staff will come from an email address ending in .ca.
🔎 Check the full sender email address carefully for misspellings or unusual domains.
🔗 Avoid clicking unexpected links, opening attachments or scanning QR codes.
💳 Be cautious of requests for payment or personal or financial information.
⏰ Watch for messages that create a sense of urgency or pressure you to act immediately.
☎️ When in doubt, verify the request independently. Contact the Township using contact information from ramara.ca rather than a phone number, email address or link provided in the suspicious message.
