That’s a wrap on the Breton Library School of Magic Summer Reading Club 2026! What a fantastic summer we had with all our wizards. We hit a huge milestone with reading hours this summer a whopping 1412 hours were read by the kids. I think they are prepped for school now teachers! 🤯
We have so many people to thank this year for another successful summer club.
First of all… Michelle Wurban with One Shot Photography for bringing the room to life as a real life magic room. She and I raided our collections and spent a few days creating the room. We would not have such a fantastic background room without her assistance and I am forever grateful for her.
Next up… my staff! Mady is amazing with the kids and works hard to make it memorable for all of them. Thanks to Aila Carstairs and Brianna Penton for being our summer workers this year and helping prep and set up and clean and help when needed. Extra hands have helped tremendously! I’m sure Pam and Lois had many questions as well on their days. Everyone works so good as a team here.
Our board member Pattie Sutherland who always goes above and beyond coming to help anyway she is needed. She even did a storytime one day! Our board chair Kristen Szepesy came the first day with her service dog Ivy and there was lots of pets and love going around. If only we could have a dog everyday! 🐶
Domino’s Pizza in Drayton Valley for an incredible generous discount on our year end pizza. We appreciate it so much and the pizza was delicious.
We also had numerous donations from local business and patrons throughout the summer. I will try to list all that I can but if I have missed you please let me know. The kids were in awe with how many prizes there were and for such successful reading hours they got to do two rounds and it was so well deserved. I’m so proud of all our kiddos!
