UPDATE #2

The water usage restriction will remain in place for the remainder of Monday. We are waiting to have our lagoon to the normal level before removing the restriction to ensure the strain is no longer in our infrastructure.

Look for an update at 9 am tomorrow when we will hopefully be able to lift the restriction.

We are almost there with all your help. Thank you so much!

Due to the restrictions still being on for the Village the board has decided to close the library for tomorrow, Tuesday June 23. We will reassess when we know more. There will be no van run delivery tomorrow. Hope everyone is starting to dry out and seeing the sunshine finally feels nice!

06/22/2026

Due to the extreme rainfall and current water restrictions, the library will be closed on Monday, June 22.

The Library Board has chosen to close for the day to help support community efforts to reduce demand on Village services while crews work through this flooding event.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope the rain takes a well-deserved day off soon, too! ☔

Please stay safe and watch for further updates on the Village of Breton page.

Sharing to get the word out!

Effective immediately as of June 21st at 8:15pm, water usage is now restricted.
No showers or baths
No washing machine or dishwasher use.
Flush sparingly and use water sparingly.

We have held off as long as we could with issuing this restriction however are now in the position that we must. Our lagoon is losing the battle with the amount of rainfall we are experiencing. We have a vac truck coming to transfer between ponds within the hour until we can access transfer pumps tomorrow. The pond that receives the waste from our sewer and storm drains will be transferred to the next pond to alleviate the stress on the Village systems.

As we are aware many may not be on social media, please share with neighbors in an effort to get the message out.

We are monitoring the situation and will be throughout the night.

PS: Whomever is doing their rain dance… please stop now. We’re good.

Donations Needed!

Our Summer Reading Club is returning July 6, and we're looking for prize donations for our readers ages 6–15!

New items such as books, art supplies, games, craft kits, LEGO sets, water bottles, gift cards, and any other kid- and teen-friendly prizes are greatly appreciated.

Your generosity helps us celebrate reading achievements and create a magical summer for our local young readers. Last year our reader's accumulated over 700 reading hours! What a massive achievement! We can't wait to see what this year brings.

Donations can be dropped off at the library.

Thank you for supporting literacy in our community! ❤️

Last Wednesday we celebrated the Seniors in our community with the second annual Memory Lane Cafe. It was so much fun, we reminisced about Breton and surrounding areas. Allan Goddard from the Breton Museum brought some artifacts down and all the interesting history was brought together. Many memories from back in time were talked about. Patrons were also treated to coffee and tea and two drink specials of a Shirley Temple or Cherry Phosphate. Thank you to Farmhouse Grind for the delicious treat tray with some local patrons recipes! A big thank you to Allan for all his work with us and bringing items for us to look at. Also to Lois for coming to help during the event and to my two board members Christina and Pattie for all their work setting up and cleaning up.
