The family, sons - Michael, David, Peter and Stephen - lived in Santa Monica, California and were visiting Maurice & Audrey Danard who had purchased Lot 5, also unseen. However, Maurice's family had been to the lake, seen the area and taken pictures. Harvey's parents visited the lot and also took pictures after we had purchased. Pauline's family lived in Kamloops and also went to the lot from Hwy.
5 which was a very primitive dirt road, following Eagan Creek. The best way at this time was up the Cariboo Highway and east on Highway 24 (the fishing highway) to Bridge Lake store, then south. We are located on the north shore, facing south near the west end of the lake. There are ranches at each end of the lake and a resort at the west end. The Cleveland family once owned most of the property and we purchased our 1/2 acre from Jamie Cleveland. Eric and Robert Cleveland still live near the lake and Robbie Clevelnad's son, Gary, operates the resort at Crystal Lake - Crystal Waters Resort, which is nearby. This is where we generally go horseback riding. For many years, Harvey, Pauline and boys camped at Eagan lake. The summers are short and we often hit cold, wet weather. When the Danard's sold their lot in 1970, we built our own outhouse. In 1978, we borrowed Harvey's parent's 19' Komfort Koach, which made camping was much more pleasant. In 1979, we purchased the Komfort Koach and left it on the lot. After Harvey had his stroke in 1986, we did not visit the lake for many years. Finally in 1993, Harvey and Pauline visited the lake and decided that we needed running water, which meant electricity and a septic field. So we visited Eric Cleveland at the resort and got advise from him on how to go about building. Harvey Hill of the Condon family at Lot 8 had just built a 3 bedroom chalet style cabin and offered to build ours. We could not have had a better offer.
