Embers travel kilometres ahead of a wildfire. You don't need to see flames to be at risk.

The good news: a few simple steps around your home can make a real difference.

✅ Clear the first 1–2 metres around your house
✅ Clean gutters and your roof regularly
✅ Keep decks clear and free of debris underneath

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today as we honoured our fallen firefighter, Alex, and stood with us in our grief. To every person who attended, shared a story, or quietly paid their respects, your presence meant more than we can say. We are deeply grateful to all who helped make the service possible. The members who planned, organized, managed logistics, prepared the gymnasium and took on the many big and small jobs needed to create a fitting tribute. Your dedication allowed us to remember and celebrate Alex with dignity and love.

To Alex’s family, especially those who travelled from afar to be with us, thank you for making the journey and for sharing this day and your memories with us. You will always be part of our fire service family, and Alex’s legacy will live on in our station and in our hearts.

With gratitude,

Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department
