This is funny and sad. Liberals take credit for removing a stupid tariff policy they created. This MP bragged about it when announced and now brags about removing what she bragged about.

🚨Canada’s Counter-Tariffs Update • New Brunswick jobs at risk because of Ottawa’s tax on imported U.S. seafoods: MP John Williamson🚨

“The Canadian seafood tariffs could be a real problem since New Brunswick consumers do not purchase fresh seafood from Maine for daily family consumption. Our provincial harvesters — coastal fishing fleets — catch and land it for domestic consumption as well as foreign markets.

“Instead, we import seafood from the United States — mainly from neighbouring Maine — to process it here and send it straight back to U.S. markets for sale. The costs to New Brunswick companies selling south of the border with seafood originating from Maine just increased an astounding 25%. These tariffs imposed by the Carney government could backfire on us and hurt jobs in New Brunswick without tangible benefits to our local seafood harvesters.

“Canada's seafood tariff on Maine imports could kill New Brunswick jobs across our province. This makes aquaculture and any seafood — including lobster — processed in our province with stock originating in Maine dramatically less competitive selling in the United States. How does this help Canada or New Brunswick workers?”
