You’ve asked and we’ve got the answer.
A lot of people are wondering:
“Do I really need a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm on every floor starting January 1?”
Answer: Yes, you do.

Ontario’s updated rule requires CO alarms adjacent to each sleeping area and on each storey of your home if your home has:
✔ a fuel burning appliance
✔ a fireplace
✔ an attached garage
✔ heated air from a fuel burning appliance that is located outside of the home

Why the change?
These changes help keep families safer, especially during winter when CO risks rise.

Honouring the Passing of Michael “Mike” Routly

The Township of East Zorra-Tavistock flags have been lowered to honour the passing of past Council Member Mike Routly. Mike served on the East Zorra-Tavistock Council from 2014-2018.

He was also a longtime Volunteer Firefighter with the Innerkip Station, serving his community for 17 years, of which the last 10 years he served in the role of Deputy Chief for the Station.

Mayor, Council, and staff extend their deepest sympathies to the Routly family, and we ask that the community keep Mike’s family in your thoughts as they navigate this difficult time.
