NATIONAL INDIGENOUS HISTORY MONTH 🧡

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities living in Canada.

We respectfully acknowledge that the Municipality of Brighton is located on the Mississauga Anishnabeg (A-nish-in-naw-bek) territory and is the traditional territory of Mississauga. The Municipality of Brighton also acknowledges the Mississauga Nations are the collective stewards and caretakers of these lands and waters in perpetuity, and that they continue to maintain this responsibility to ensure their health and integrity for generations to come.

JUNE IS PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH 🎾🏒🛝

Join us in celebrating the spaces and people that bring our community together. From our parks and playgrounds to arenas and trails, our Parks and Recreation team is proud to support healthy, active living for all.

Recreation and parks services are core municipal services that:

🫶Foster inclusion, accessibility, and community belonging
🌲Protect and enhance green spaces and public assets
🥳Contribute to economic vitality and community pride

Throughout the month of June, we are highlighting the different parks and recreation facilities and programs that Brighton has to offer each season, and the behind the scenes work of our staff.

We encourage Brighton residents to embrace the opportunities for physical activity, exploration, and community connection that our parks and recreation facilities and programs offer.
