Lower Trent Conservation is advising local municipalities and residents that:

• A Flood Outlook Statement has been issued for the Lake Ontario and Bay of Quinte shoreline, from Grafton to Quinte West.
• A Flood Watch Statement is now in effect for the Trent River, from Hastings to Trenton.
This Flood Watch serves as a downgraded update to the Flood Warning that was issued on April 16, 2026.

Water levels remain elevated, and conditions can change quickly. Residents in low-lying areas are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions. For more information please check out our website: https://ltc.on.ca/forecasting-warnings/water-level-bulletins/

WILDLAND FIRE TRAINING 🔥🌲

Crews were at Station #2 on Tuesday evening, conducting hands-on training with equipment used to fight wildfires ahead of the summer season.

Using a large portable holding tank that can be filled by our tanker truck, crews practiced connecting hoses carried in backpacks and deploying more than 1,500 feet of hose. This setup is especially valuable in wildland fire situations where fire hydrants are unavailable, and fires may be located deep in wooded or remote areas.

By pumping water from tanker trucks into the holding tank, crews can establish a sustained water supply and relay it over long distances. Lightweight hose packs allow firefighters to move quickly and stay mobile. This approach is essential for controlling fast-moving wildland fires, limiting fire spread, and keeping crews safe while operating far from traditional apparatus access.

Training like this ensures crews are familiar with deploying equipment efficiently and working together under conditions similar to those encountered during real wildland fire incidents.

Great work, everyone 🧑‍🚒🔥💪

👮🖤 We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Sergeant Brandon Malcolm. Brandon was an important part of emergency services in Brighton, and it was truly a pleasure to serve alongside him. He will be remembered for his dedication and the impact he made in our community.

Ahead of Tuesday night training, our crews took a moment of silence to honour his life and service.

It is with profound sadness that I regretfully confirm that OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm was killed in the line of duty along Highway 401 in Cobourg this evening. We honour his service and bravery as we grieve this tremendous loss. We extend our deepest condolences and mourn alongside his loved ones and OPP colleagues across the province.

DRYER FIRE SAFETY 👕

Did you know that dryer fires are a leading cause of house fires?

Protect your house (and your clothes) by:
✅ cleaning the lint trap after every load
✅ checking your dryer's vent and hose to ensure it's not blocked or clogged
✅ ensuring you're only running the dryer when you're able to keep an eye on it and,
✅ not overloading your dryer
