tansi relatives,
I have grown up on kakisiwew-ochapowace Nation my whole life. Our people know me, my integrity, and the values I carry. I know our people, our families, our strengths, and the challenges we continue to face together.
Over the years, I have worked hard to prepare myself for leadership and service to our Nation. From leaving home for post-secondary education to working within the legal system, to representing our Nation and First Nations peoples.
Creator has placed me on paths and provided me with experiences that have led me to where I am today, and for that I will forever be grateful.
I have worked hard for our Nation, and I have spoken honestly about the issues we face. Whether it has been advocating to protect our rights, bringing partnerships and funding into our community, supporting youth and sports, advancing justice initiatives, or representing our people - I have always believed that leadership requires honesty, accountability, and the courage to have difficult conversations for the betterment of our people.
Just to clarify, I am currently completing my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I attempted to finish (online) while balancing council responsibilities and school, but withdrew from my remaining classes this term due to workload. Iâm proud of the education and experience Iâve worked hard for and remain committed to completing my degree!
I want to outline the boards and commissions I currently sit on or have sat on.
Since being elected in 2023, I was appointed to kakisiwew-ochapowace Nationâs Treasury Board by our council.
I also sit on the Bear Claw Community Development Corporation (BCCDC) board alongside 3 other members of Council. The board meets periodically throughout the year. Roughly about 5-7 times in a year.
Following my election, I was appointed by the Chief to sit on the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) Indian Justice Commission, which focuses on justice-related issues affecting First Nations. We meet maybe 3-4 times a year.
Prior to being elected to Council, I was appointed in 2023 to the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) 2S+ National Council. My term on that council ended in February 2025, I no longer represent AFN.
I was also appointed by Council to sit as a proxy member for the Atoskewin Economic Development Board. However, the proxy position did not allow full participation in board matters, and I ultimately resigned from that position.
I have always tried to use these opportunities to advocate for our Nation, build relationships, and bring knowledge and experience back to our community.
I want to hear from our people. If you have questions, concerns, ideas, or simply want to visit, please call or text me anytime - my number is on the pamphlet đ
I humbly ask for your support, your prayers, and your trust as we move forward.
Vote Tyler George for Chief of kakisiwew-ochapowace Nation on May 16th, 2026
