A new tribute to those who have served now has a permanent place in downtown Brockville.

This new commemorative crosswalk, located on the south side of King Street West at Broad Street near the Great War Memorial, was developed in partnership with the Brockville Legion as a tribute to those who have served.

A special thank you goes to Ron Fenlong of Dulux Paints Brockville, who generously supplied the paint and materials for the project and spent the day alongside City staff helping bring the design to life.

The crosswalk was inspired through discussions between Mayor Matthew Wren, members of Legion Branch 96, and City staff, with the goal of creating a visible symbol of remembrance in downtown Brockville.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, expertise, and support to make this meaningful project a reality.

As of 9:00 a.m. today, October 20, 1,343 residents have cast their ballots in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, representing 6.7% of eligible voters!

There’s still lots of time to have your say, voting continues until Monday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m.

Flags at City of Brockville municipal facilities have been lowered to half-mast in honour of the Canadian Armed Forces members who lost their lives following a tragic fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta, on October 17.

The City of Brockville extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends and fellow service members of those who lost their lives. Our thoughts are also with those who were injured and everyone affected by this tragedy.

Eligible Brockville electors can now cast their ballot in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.

Vote online or by telephone using the instructions and PIN included in your Voter Information Letter.

Voting remains open until Monday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m.

Whether you own or rent your home, your property is linked to a school board, even if you don't have children or your children aren't currently attending school.

You have the option to choose which school board you support. If you don't make a selection, your support will automatically default to the English Public school board.

School support designation is managed by MPAC. If you'd like to review or update your designation, you can do so directly through MPAC:

→ Property owners: aboutmyproperty.ca
→ Tenants: school-support.mpac.ca

While the June 1 deadline has passed for changes to appear on the Preliminary List of Electors for this election, you can still update your designation at any time. Once submitted, MPAC will record the change and send you an email confirmation.
