⚠️ W**d Warning - Phragmites

This towering plant can grow up to 15 feet tall and quickly dominate wetlands. Phragmites forms dense stands along riverbanks, lakes, and ponds, crowding out native vegetation and altering aquatic ecosystems.

Because it spreads aggressively, early detection is key. Effective control requires a multi-year, integrated approach combining herbicide application, mechanical removal (cutting/drowning), and, where approved, biological agents.

Call 403-794-2335 if you have any concerns or need assistance in w**d identification & control > countyofnewell.ab.ca/w**d-control
