Though we are seeing colder weather, it is also a much dryer season out with little rain. Fire bans are in most areas in this time of year because of the high risk of wild fires. For convenient fire safety, buy a water can, stored pressure, or a refillable water backpack to bring where your work may take you.

A common question or comment we hear is, "Oh, my fire extinguishers are probably expired, do I need to replace them!?"

"No, you probably don't... most likely they'll only need an annual servicing." They are serviceable as long as the parts are available.

Reasons to replace fire extinguishers are:
1) Failed hydrostatic testing
2) Excessive rust and compromise to the cylinder
3) No ULC listing ( in Alberta)

Ways to preserve the shelf life of a fire extinguisher are:
1) Keep in dry place
2) Avoid dropping
3) Keep out of extreme heat and cold
