In fact, in 2025, known homelessness in mostly rural communities increased by 31% from 2024.

In addition, municipalities are increasingly absorbing the cost of managing higher and more persistent levels of homelessness through local service delivery.

On Friday, we were pleased to welcome Lisa Thompson to the Morris-Turnberry Municipal Office for the presentation of $32,390 in provincial funding through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant program, which will support the purchase of new “Road Closed” trailers to enhance emergency response and public safety within the municipality.

On behalf of Council, we would like to sincerely thank MPP Thompson for her continued support of local municipalities and for advocating for investments that help strengthen emergency preparedness in our communities.
