Today, we spent the day at the Kilbride Makers Market! Our association fired up the BBQ, served up some great food, and spent the day connecting with the community that means so much to us.

Our volunteer firefighters aren’t just neighbours helping out—they are highly trained professionals who meet the exact same NFPA standards as full-time crews. They don’t just show up when it’s convenient; they:

• leave family dinners at a moment's notice

• jump out of bed for 3:00 AM calls

• step away from their "day jobs" the second the pager sounds

These individuals are the backbone of our fire services, protecting over 80% of Ontario’s geography. 🌲🚜

This , we’re looking past the gear at the people behind it. To the firefighters balancing careers, families, and the sudden ring of a pager: We see the dedication it takes to serve your community at 3:00 AM and still be at your desk by 9:00 AM.

Thank you for the commitment it takes to balance both roles. 👨‍🚒

come out and support our community on May 2nd!

We are all getting excited and hoping that you will join us at the 4th annual Kilbride Spring Celebration and Maker’s Market! Our many indoor and outdoor makers are making, our local Kilbride Volunteer Firefighters are getting the BBQ ready (yes… adding sausages and more onions this year), Mr Watkins (&band) & Tricia Cole are practicing to perform for you all day, our bakers are baking, and volunteers are busy collecting donations from our amazing local businesses for our HUGE silent auction!!!!! There will again be planters and baskets available to purchase… so we hope that you come out and support the Kilbride United Church, local makers and your neighbours!!!!

That’s a wrap on the rink for this season. The ice rink is now officially closed for the year.

We’re so happy we were able to make this space possible for our community again this winter. Seeing families, friends, and neighbours out enjoying the ice made all the work worth it.

We’re incredibly lucky to have such a great group of people at our station and such a supportive community behind it. It truly takes a village, and we’re proud to call Kilbride ours.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made the most of the rink this season!

Today, on International Women’s Day, the Kilbride Firefighters Association recognizes the women who proudly serve our community. Our small but dedicated team of women plays an important role in protecting and supporting Kilbride.

Women have been part of the fire service for decades. One of the earliest known female firefighters was Molly Williams, who served with a volunteer fire company in New York around 1818. Over time, women continued to break barriers, including Brenda Berkman, whose 1982 legal challenge helped open the doors for women to become career firefighters in major departments.

Today, women continue to serve as firefighters, officers, and leaders in departments across Canada and around the world. Their dedication, courage, and professionalism strengthen the fire service and inspire the next generation.

After a very early morning flood, the Kilbride Community Rink is open! This is a community rink run by the Station 5 firefighters. Lights are available for public use, please remember to turn them off when you’re done. Helmets are strongly recommended, be respectful and share the ice, and help keep the rink clean so everyone can enjoy it. Ice conditions can change, so skate at your own risk. Enjoy the ice, Kilbride!

We’re out filling outdoor ice rinks around Burlington over the next few days! 🧊❄️

We’re excited to put our new tanker to work and help support local neighbourhood rinks for everyone to enjoy this winter. Huge thanks to the volunteers who make these rinks possible. Please make sure to follow your local rink rules and stay off the ice until the rink is officially open and cleared by volunteers. Happy skating, Burlington!
