HVPC was formed in 1992 by the Chief of Halton Regional Police Services in response to the violent deaths of two young women. The focus of HVPC includes strengthening and improving services, identifying gaps in service and increasing safety for victims and their children. HVPC has 20-25 member organizations that provide a range of services for survivors who experience any kind of violence or abuse, including domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, human trafficking, and child abuse. Our prevention focus includes increasing public awareness of all types of family violence. The Council aims to change our community's attitudes and behaviours that leads to violence and abuse.
