On May 14, Habitat for Humanity HMD was proud to participate in the Halton Housing Roundtable hosted by MP Kristina Tesser Derksen and MP Adam Van Koeverden at Schneider Electric.

We extend our sincere thanks for the invitation and for creating space for meaningful conversation around one of the most urgent challenges facing our communities: housing affordability.

The discussion was a powerful reminder that behind every housing policy conversation are real people, families, municipalities, suppliers, developers, non-profits, and community partners working to navigate rising costs, infrastructure pressures, approval timelines, and the barriers slowing progress on new housing solutions.

We appreciated the opportunity to share local perspectives directly with Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, MP McKelvie, alongside housing leaders from across the region.

At Habitat for Humanity HMD, we know that solving the housing crisis will take bold collaboration and practical action that create pathways to affordable homeownership and housing stability for families.

Now is the time for all levels of government, private sector partners, and community organizations to work together to:

• accelerate investments in housing-enabling infrastructure and funding
• remove barriers that slow the creation of affordable housing
• create innovative pathways to homeownership
