Advocate making all learning materials as accessible as possible from the start Making education accessible from the start is easier – and far more inclusive – than trying to retrofit accommodations for individual students with disabilities. That’s the takeaway from two recent research project...

September 30, 2021 marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this day, we reflect upon the wrongdoings of the residential school system and decades of systemic racism against Indigenous peoples by a colonial society.

ACE-BC is committed to being an inclusive community. Our core values are equity, diversity, access, and inclusion. We strive to empower all learners, to embrace all means of communication and all languages, including the Indigenous Sign Languages. We are thankful to be located on the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xwməθkwəýəm (Musqueam) Nations.

Going forward, we recognize our collective responsibility to learn about Indigenous cultures, to be aware of issues specific to Indigenous communities, and to be open-minded in the ongoing journey of Truth, Reconciliation, and Self-Determination.

Yours in Reconciliation,

ACE-BC
