We recognize not everyone has access to extended health benefits, and cost can often be a barrier to receiving the help needed.

As a charitable not-for-profit organization, we use the generous donations we receive to provide our professional services to individuals, couples, and families through our subsidy program. Since 2011, we are proud to have raised over $250,000 to support improved access to mental health services for our community.

Our subsidy program helps reduce the cost barrier for clients who otherwise cannot fund the full cost on their own. Because quality mental health care should be accessible, not unattainable. 🤍

Contact us to learn more about our subsidy program! We're here whenever you're ready.

On June 20th, join us for our annual event, Done in a Day! 👟👟

This is an annual, community-led hike that raises funds to subsidize counselling costs for BCG Counselling Group clients who may not otherwise be able to afford mental health care.

By participating in Done in a Day, you’re embarking on a journey that recognizes the challenge as a symbol of the uphill battle those living with mental illness face each day. We were never meant to do this alone, and together, we truly can make each other stronger.

Sensory overload is an overwhelmed nervous system.
You can't process your way out of a flooded nervous system - instead, here are some real steps that can help make a difference:

Step 1: Reduce the Input

Dim the lights.
Put in the earplugs/ headphones.
Step outside into the cool air.
Reduce the sensory "input" your brain has to compute.

Step 2: Heavy Work (Proprioception)
When the world feels overwhelming, ground yourself by reminding your brain where your body is.

Use a weighted blanket.
Push firmly against a wall.
Do a wall-sit.
Deep pressure is a powerful regulatory signal.

Step 3: Drop the Guilt
Leaving a loud room or declining a social invitation isn't weakness —it's an advanced self-regulation skill. Protect your peace. 🤍

Sensory overload is a physiological event that happens when your nervous system is receiving more input than it can process. When your nervous system becomes flooded with sensory input, it can become overwhelmed, even to the point of triggering a fight-flight-freeze response.

Struggling to regulate your nervous system? You don't have to navigate it alone. Follow along for more ways to offer gentleness to your nervous system. 🌱

Gentle note to self: Those major emotions and big reactions - that wasn't your nervous system being dramatic. That was your nervous system trying to keep you alive and safe.
