Côte Saint-Luc Reads was created to engage our residents and create a culture of reading in our city.

Montreal-based Anita Rau Badami is one of Canada’s most distinguished literary voices and was our very first author for CSL Reads in 2008 – it’s our pleasure to welcome her back in honour of our 60th anniversary year! Her novels, including The Hero’s Walk, Can You Hear the Nightbird Call?, and Tell It to the Trees, have garnered international acclaim, literary awards, and devoted readers around the world. Asha in Her Garden marks her first novel in fifteen years.

Set between India and Montreal, Asha in Her Garden follows Asha Mohan as she reflects on family, memory, immigration, and identity while tending the garden that has been her sanctuary for decades. Rich with warmth, humor, and insight, the novel explores the enduring ties that shape our lives and the possibility of transformation at any age.

💙 Have you been a Côte Saint-Luc Library member for 60 years? We’d love to hear from you! / Êtes-vous membre de la Bibliothèque de Côte Saint-Luc depuis 60 ans? Nous aimerions vous entendre! 📚

As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Côte Saint-Luc Public Library, we’re looking for longtime library members to share their stories and memories with us!

We recently received this beautiful reflection from Vivian M. Silver, who has been a library member for 60 wonderful years. Vivian remembers bringing her then two-year-old son to the library at the Côte Saint-Luc Shopping Centre to discover books together. Today, he is an avid reader—and they still look back fondly on that first visit. ❤️

She also shared how much the library has meant to her throughout the years, from finding books on art for her work as a volunteer docent at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, to the comfort and connection the library provided during COVID-19.

“I can truly say it was a page of hopeful times and comfort at a distressing time.”
