Registration is open for our Summer Reading Club for children ages 0 to 12. In Greater Madawaska, each SRC participant receives a welcome package with a SRC passport. From July 2 to August 29, SRC participants can collect a stamp on their passport and a Banana Buck each time they visit the library and take out 5 books. Banana Bucks can be spent on coupons for local businesses and items from the library store. A completed passport (8 stamps) can be submitted for an end-of-summer prize draw. SRC activities will be held weekly at the library on Wednesdays 1:30pm - 2:30pm (ages 5-12) beginning July 8 until August 26. Participation in these activities is optional. What's happening at the library:

Spill the Tea - Take home a collection of teas from around the world. Available at the circulation desk thanks to Local Immigration Partnership - Lanark & Renfrew.

Welcome Rocks - Pick up your kit at the circulation desk- while supplies last. A fun summer activity!

Chess Club meetup - Last one before summer! Today, Wednesday, June 17, 3:45pm-4:45pm. To return in September.

JAM Night! - Last one before summer! Today, Wednesday, June 17, 6pm-7pm. We will re-launch in September with a Learn-to-play session.

Bricolage (DIY Crafting) - Tuesday mornings 10am-12pm. Bring a project you are working on or use our supplies to create something amazing.

Mahjong - is continuing through the summer Tuesday afternoons, 2pm-3pm.

Summer Reading Club Activities - Wednesday afternoons 1:30pm- 2:30pm. Participants must first register with our Summer Reading Club (SRC) program with a valid library card. Register for each activity the week before.

Thursday morning - pre-school drop-in, 9:30am-10:15am

Lego Lounge - Every 3rd Saturday of the month, 10am-12pm (Really, if ever you visit and want to play with Lego, just ask!)

Heads up! RCDHU is visiting the library on Wednesday, August 12, 10am - 2pm to bring us dental screening services and a school readiness clinic with a registered nurse.

We hope to have Service Canada join for a visit as well-- to support residents who are looking to access the new federal dental care plan.

Summer Reading Club registration opens next week on Tuesday, June 16.

In Greater Madawaska, each SRC participant receives a welcome package with a SRC passport and a few goodies. Chess Club is cancelled for this afternoon, Wednesday, June 10, 3:45 - 4:45. Please join us on Wednesday June 24, 3:45 - 4:45 for our last Chess Club meetup this year. We hope to resume a weekly chess club in the fall.

Celebrating Margaret LeGear whose book titled 'S Is for Swim' has been recognized by Lifesaving Society Ontario as a 2026 LSS Water Smart top choice LSS 2026 Summer Reading list (Congratulations, Margaret!). 🥳Margaret will present her work to the SJC Kindergarten class next Tuesday. You can borrow this title from our library, or buy a copy from Burnstown Publishing:

Young readers will learn to: Explore: happy water animals playfully swimming. Be Motivated: to practise swimming skills in a fun way. Be Prepared: with water-safety tips and more.
