It was exciting to watch this morning’s CBC News and hear from Christian Sallaberger, President & CEO of Canadensys Aerospace Corporation doing his interview from the company’s Parr Boulevard offices right here in Bolton, Caledon talking about the US-based Odysseus lunar landing and the Caledon connection.

Bolton-based Canadensys Aerospace Corporation has been awarded a $43 million contract to design and build Canada's first lunar rover.

I have to say a grateful “thank you” to the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation for this honour.

I am humbled by this recognition and I certainly want to say “thank you” to the Board of Directors for their nomination.

But the thanks needs to go much broader than that.

Thank you to ALL the donors of this incredible organization who work collaboratively and cooperatively with the organization so that the impact of good work in the community can be amplified.

And thank you to the charities who work with the Foundation so that together they can continue to do good work in the community.

Together this is Caledon in action doing what it does best! I am humbled and grateful!

I don’t post on social media much anymore but the visit last week by the Isola Del Liri delegation to our Town of Caledon for the signing of the Sister City Agreement is a moment meant to be shared.

It was my absolute pleasure to get to know the Isola del Liri delegates during their June 2022 visit to Canada and then to travel with our Caledon delegation later that summer to Italy.

This is an exciting initiative I was happy to be part of, led by Cllr Tony Rosa and local entrepreneur Joe Tersigni and I am glad to see the current administration is moving the project forward.

Advocacy isn’t always a sprint with quick results; it takes patience, perseverance and a commitment. I took the 6 am shifts with the highway survey. I’m glad the work of Cllr Lynn Kiernan is advancing!

After three long years of advocating, I am pleased to share with you that the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has agreed to conduct a Comprehensive Traffic and Safety Study for Hwy 10.

This is a HUGE step forward and an acknowledgment of our concerns. I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help with numerous traffic studies, the petitions and who wrote letters and emails.

This highway cuts through the very heart of Ward 1, and our loved ones travel it daily. Our voices have been heard! We look ahead to the results and safety recommendations that come out of this study.

Congratulations on the signing of this agreement! A Sister City Agreement with Isolo del Liri is the brainchild of Cllr Tony Rosa Ward 5 Bolton who worked collaboratively with our strong Italian community in Bolton last term of Council to plant the seeds and get the ball rolling.

Supported by our Council colleagues last term and this, I am pleased our Mayor has inked the agreement.

Today, the Sister City Agreement with the Town of Caledon and the Town of Isola del Liri in Italy was signed. Mayor Annette Groves visited Italy for the signing. Another local news source reported recently that Bolton Councillor Tony Rosa was also in Italy this month celebrating his 25th wedding ann...

This is great news! The ministerial delegations at the Annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference are important face-to-face discussions to bring forward our municipal concerns to the ministries. I enjoyed this work with my Council colleagues and that advocacy work is important.

After a successful AMO Delegation last August, The Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) will install two air monitoring stations in Caledon Village and Bolton. These stations will assess the impact of traffic on local air quality. Council committed matching funds as part of this past budget to procure one station for this the project. The stations will be located in one community at a time, collecting data for approximately three months before being moved to the second community. The monitoring will take place in Caledon Village from August to October and in Bolton from November to January. The data will be compiled and analyzed by the Province, with a report expected to be provided to the Town in 2024. Residents living near the monitoring stations will receive letters prior to installation. More details to be provided through Council highlights later this month.

More information about the project is available on caledon.ca/airqualitystudy.
