Alberta Fish and Wildlife has successfully captured the black bear that had been frequenting the area and has removed it from the community.

While the immediate concern has been addressed, there is an important reminder for all residents:

Preventing future wildlife conflicts starts with removing those food sources. Residents are asked to:

Keep garbage and compost securely stored and inaccessible to wildlife until the day of collection.
Do not place bins or garbage outside early where wildlife can access them.
Clean up spilled garbage, food and other attractants.
Keep pet food indoors.
Keep BBQs and outdoor cooking areas clean.

Once bears learn that residential areas provide an easy source of food, they are more likely to return and can become increasingly comfortable around people.

Thank you to Alberta Fish and Wildlife for their response and to residents for their cooperation while the trap was in place.
