In the face of rising US tariffs and global uncertainty, Alberta is standing strong to protect our economy and defend the industries that power this province.
In response to feedback from industry leaders, we are taking decisive action to keep our businesses competitive by:
✅ Freezing Alberta’s industrial carbon tax at it’s current rate, 95 dollars per tonne
✅ Stopping the scheduled hike to $110 next year and $170 by 2030
✅ Providing certainty for energy, agriculture, petrochemicals, manufacturing, and more
✅ Preserving investment, jobs, and global competitiveness for Alberta industries
✅ Leading on emissions reduction through innovation, not unrealistically high taxes
Alberta has had a reasonable, industry-led carbon pricing system in place since 2007. This is provincial jurisdiction, and we will not needlessly burden our businesses with further increases dictated by Ottawa that would be detrimental to our economy.
