Parking your RV at home for a few days? Avoid a ticket by learning the seasonal parking rules for recreational vehicles like motor homes, trailers, campers and boats in residential areas.

Here is what to keep in mind this season ⬇️

🚘 Driveway parking

You are allowed to park your RV in your front driveway for up to 3 consecutive days. After that, it needs to be stored off-site for at least 2 full days. Also, make sure it is parked at least 1 metre from the sidewalk and not within 7.5 metres of any intersection

🛑 Street parking

Street parking is allowed (if you don’t have a driveway) for up to 3 consecutive days on the street directly in front of your house, followed by a minimum 2-day storage period. Parked RV’s cannot block the view of intersections, crosswalks, playgrounds, signs or obstruct the movement of local traffic.

❌ Detached trailers or campers cannot be parked on city streets or alleys at any time.

📌 A quick reminder: rotating between driveway and street parking without 2-day break in storage is not allowed.

See an illegally parked RV? Here's what you can do:

🏠 On a front driveway: Call 311, use the 311 app, or dial 403-268-2489 (outside Calgary)
🚗 On the street: Contact Calgary Parking at 403-537-7100, option 3

For full bylaw details and tips to avoid tickets, visit Calgary.ca/RVparking

The City of Calgary Traffic Bylaw regulates the parking and use of recreational vehicles, such as motor homes or trailers, in the city.

With the new school year underway, it’s a great time for families to review their emergency preparedness plans. 🌩️ Storms, losing power, and other emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere. Helping kids understand what to expect and what to do can make these situations feel less overwhelming.

✅ There are different ways to get kids involved, from talking about Calgary's disaster risks and creating a family emergency plan, to practicing what to do during an emergency. These conversations can help build confidence and prepare the whole family to respond when needed.

💻 CEMA's Ready Squad e-course helps kids:
• Learn about Calgary's disaster risks.
• How to prepare.
• How to stay safe during an emergency.
• What to expect after.

Families can also try the Junior Weather Forecaster's Challenge, a fun and interactive way to learn more about Calgary's weather and its impacts.

Too many Calgarians are being forced to make an impossible choice: find housing… or keep their pet.

Each year, over 500 animals come into the Calgary Humane Society due to housing challenges alone – not because they aren’t loved, but because people don’t have options.

That’s why together with the Calgary Humane Society, we’re working to make pet-inclusive housing more accessible through supports for tenants, tools for landlords and resources to help keep people and pets together.

Because no one should have to choose between a safe place to live and the pet they love. 💛

Building Calgary for today and tomorrow.

Across the city, we're investing in welcoming parks, natural areas and public spaces, so you have more places to relax, connect and have fun close to home.

Here are just a few projects that will give people places to go:
🌿 Chinese Market Garden
Honouring a significant cultural landscape within the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.

⚽ Rocky Ridge Athletic Park
Creating more opportunities for northwest residents to stay active year-round.

📚 Belmont Fieldhouse & Library
A new community hub featuring a library, multi-sport field and viewing areas.

🏟️ Northeast Athletic Complex
Expanding recreation opportunities for people of all ages, creating more space for sport, play and community connection.

These projects are part of our ongoing investment in the roads, pathways, parks, libraries, recreation facilities and community spaces that Calgarians rely on every day.

A major milestone has been reached on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main Replacement Project.

Since January, crews have been working underground to install a new section of feeder main using microtunnelling, a construction method that allows work to happen beneath existing roads and infrastructure with minimal disruption at the surface.

✅ Stage A microtunnelling is now complete.
Crews have finished approximately 3.7 km of tunnelling and installed the full concrete carrier pipe between the Shaganappi Pump Station and 73 Street N.W. With that work complete, installation of the new steel feeder main inside the carrier pipe is continuing on schedule, with more than 2 km already installed.

✅ Stage B open-cut construction progresses
In Bowness, work on Stage B is also progressing steadily along 34 Avenue N.W., where more than 1 km of the new feeder main has been installed. Construction is moving block by block, with roads, sidewalks and property access being restored as work advances.

What's next?

Work on Calgary's water system will happen in three phases beginning this fall:

Phase 1 - Mid-September
Work begins at the Shaganappi Pump Station and the Bearspaw Water Treatment Plant. Temporary outdoor water restrictions may be needed while crews complete this work. We'll share updates as plans are finalized.

Phase 2 - Mid-October
Crews will connect the new feeder main to the existing system at several locations. This work will require Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions and indoor water conservation measures.

Phase 3 - Mid-November
The new feeder main will be tested, disinfected and filled with water before being brought into service. No restrictions are required during this time.
