Hi Everyone,

We're forwarding the following info as it pertains to payment to help ease some financial burden from applying for the DTC (disability tax credit). The regulatory process for the Canada Disability Benefit supplemental payment now complete. Here's the details:

Greetings,

We are pleased to announce that the government has completed the regulatory process to provide a supplemental payment of $150 to all Canada Disability Benefit recipients to help reduce the costs of obtaining the disability tax credit (DTC). In addition, four minor changes were made to clarify certain provisions in the Canada Disability Benefit Regulations (the Regulations), which do not change how the program is administered.

The changes to the Regulations will take legal effect on September 1, 2026. More information about these changes, including a summary of the Regulations as of September 1, 2026, is available online at: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/disability/canada-disability-benefit.html?utm_campaign=esdc-edsc-cdb-pcph-24-25&utm_medium=vanity-url&utm_source=canada-ca_disability-benefit

The government will start issuing the supplemental payment to Canada Disability Benefit recipients starting in September 2026. More information on when to expect payment will be available on the Canada Disability Benefit website soon. The link to the site is here:

Happy Everyone!

This is a month to celebrate and commemorate the contributions and history of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the fiercely brave advocates of equality and justice.

Every June, Pride Month is celebrated to honour the 1969 Stonewall riots where patrons and allies of the Stonewall Inn in New York City staged an uprising to the harassment and persecution of LGBTQ+ persons. This uprising, led by powerful changemakers from the Trans community, marks the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against those in the LGBTQ+ community. Pride month is also a time where we celebrate the contributions and successes of 2SLGBTQIA+ people, including team members at Progressive Alternatives Society of Calgary and the people we serve who are part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

From those who are living proudly and sharing your identity and love with your communities, and to the folks who are still figuring it out or who do not feel safe sharing their authentic selves, and to strong allies of the community: stay strong, stay resilient, uplift one another, and remember that q***r joy is an act of resistance.

Jim doesn’t always prefer to say a lot of words. He knows many, he does say some, but chooses to show, display and connect in other ways. He has cultural roots from the Philippines, Spain, Canada and more; as his parents immigrated their family to Canada to plant new roots and use their talents. While Jim has displayed many talents throughout the years, whether it be musical, hands-on work at work and other roles such as bike mechanics, soldering chips and most recently in his career at Village Brewery where he’s been working in various areas of production.

Recently, a hidden talent has been discovered, as Jim demonstrated not only an affinity for painting, but a talent that he shares with his mother Cora. His father who recently passed away, Santiago, loved to see Jim’s “talento oculto”, as it’s the name that’s inspired this upcoming show for him. Over the past few years, Jim’s been working on his painting skills at a local studio, in addition to painting together with his mother as he’s found working on his art a wonderful way to express himself and work through the recent loss of his father. His work ranges from his pivotal “Burger”, which gave rise to using that image for his event. A burger, is much more than just a tasty meal; it’s a way he finds a break and connection with others throughout the day, or a reward at the end of a hard day’s work. Jim’s also taken inspiration from nature, the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and other moments in time from his day to day.

We welcome you to join on Friday May 8 from 4-7pm at Village Brewery for Jim’s first art show, Talento Oculto. He will have his works on display, with some of his paintings on sale. Please follow Jim at on Instagram, as well as check at and for details about the event, and RSVP on the Showpass link provided as space is limited.
